My guy fancies someone else

MY boyfriend is fuming because I deleted another girl's name from his MySpace. I want her out of our relationship – but how?
I'm 17, he's 19 and we've been dating just over a year.
I thought we were solid until he recently told me he fancies someone else.
I'm distraught – she's far better looking than I am.
He told me after a night out and we went back to his place with me hysterical.
I threatened to use a knife to self-harm.
He managed to get the knife off me and then started crying himself saying he didn't want me to hurt myself.
After a heartbreaking night I thought we'd sorted things out but I still feel he gawps at her and looks at her MySpace all the time.
After hearing her name yet again tonight I went into his computer and blocked and deleted her name.
I said if he had any respect for me and our relationship he'd have done it already.
I despise this girl.
Every night out we see her and she pounces on him and flirts every chance she gets.
I've said I won't ban him from all contact with her and the odd “hello” wouldn't go amiss.
He's so angry with me though, he won't listen.
I don't want to lose my boyfriend, he's my life, but I've run out of ideas as to how to get this girl to leave us alone.

DEIDRE SAYS: You got together when you were very young.
It's tough but true that we change during our teens and romances can run out of steam.
He doesn't want to hurt you but he's understandably angry at being tied to your apron strings.
Have a heart to heart and be willing to hear him out.
If he's torn between you and this other girl, cutting him some slack won't drive him away and is more likely to keep him in the long run.
