Dramatic views of the deadly Hurricane Michael emerged from the International Space Station on Wednesday.
Michael, which is the third-strongest storm to hit mainland US in recorded history, hit the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday afternoon with a wind speed of up to 155 mph (250 km/h).
So far two people, including a child, have been killed by the storm. About 500,000 people have been left without electricity.

Russian Cosmonaut Aleksei Ovchinin talked about the dos and don’ts of living aboard the ISS in an exclusive interview filmed at Star City almost a week before he was forced to make an emergency landing following the failure of a booster on the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft.
When asked about the three most important rules for living aboard the station, Ovchinin said “first of all, you must get on well with the crew if you’re going to live in such an enclosed space for a long time and so there aren’t any problems interacting. You must observe the safety measures and the requirements without fail.”
When asked about the things you definitely should not do, the cosmonaut succinctly answered “Make holes in the ISS.”
During the interview, Ovchinin also said the coolest cosmonaut he ever met was Dzhanibekov for the role he played in docking with the unresponsive Salyut-7 space station in 1985.
Alexei Ovchinin and NASA astronaut Nick Hague landed safely, having returned to Earth in ballistic descent mode. They were originally cheduled to return to Earth in April 2019.

Tatiana and Svetlana Ovchinina, Aleksei Ovchinin’s mother and wife, gave an insight into his journey to become a cosmonaut, as well as their experiences back on Earth in an interview filmed almost a week before Ovchinin was forced to make an emergency landing following the failure of a booster on the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft.
“He was a very talkative child and he always said ‘My dad works at this factory and makes engines for planes and I’m going to fly these planes.’ In 2006, he applied to become a cosmonaut,” Tatiana Ovchinina said, adding “he became a cosmonaut in 2006 and he only had his first flight in 2016.”
Svetlana Ovchinina talked about her experiences and worries back on the ground. “You’re always waiting for the phone to ring because he could call at any time when he reaches the right zone and you don’t know when he’s going to call, so you’re always waiting thinking ‘he’s going to call any minute!’” she said.
Talking about some of the reminders of home, Ovchinin takes into space with him, Svetlana said “he normally takes letters and birthday cards from friends and relatives, although I think he’s probably already opened them at Baikonur, pictures from our kids, photos, as many as he can take. Last time, I sewed him a large icon depicting Nikola Chudotvorets, the patron saint of travelers. This time I embroidered him a portrait of Gagarin.”

Svetlana Ovchinina, Cosmonaut Aleksei Ovchinin’s wife, gave a brief phone interview from Russia’s Star City on Thursday, following the Soyuz MS-10 booster malfunction that forced her husband and Astronaut Nick Hague to make an emergency landing shortly after launch.
“I probably feel much worse than they do right now. I'm sure you understand. I've been on edge all morning, then I got completely overwhelmed,” she said.
“I have already received a call from the RKA Mission Control Center. They have already told me that everything is, that the rescue team had already arrived and nobody suffered any injuries. So, thank God everything turned out ok,” she added.
Their capsule is believed to have landed 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) away the village of Zhezqazghan in Kazakhstan. They have since been picked up by a search and rescue team and returned to Baikonur alive and well.

Cosmonaut Aleksei Ovchinin’s wife, Svetlana Ovchinina, thanked all the rescue teams, as well as the inventors of the capsule rescue system, for ensuring ‘our guys came back to the Earth safe and sound.’ She was speaking in an interview from Moscow’s Star City on Thursday.
“There is no way any one can be prepared for this. Cosmonauts are prepared of course, but their wives just have to worry about them,” she said.
Ovchinina will travel to meet her husband at Baikonur in Kazakhstan on Friday.

Russian cosmonaut Aleksei Ovchinin sarcastically reacted to the failure of one of the boosters on his Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft on Thursday.
“We arrived quickly,” he said in an unamused tone, as the malfunction forced the crew to initiate an emergency landing.
The Soyuz capsule is believed to have landed 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) away the town of Zhezqazghan in central Kazakhstan.

According to medical staff, both Ovchinin and Hague are well and trying to enjoy to rest after their testing experience earlier on Thursday.

NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin are in good health and were reunited with their families, after an emergency landing caused by a booster failure on a Russian Soyuz rocket, announced ISS Operations Integration Manager Kenny Todd in Houston on Thursday.
Todd confirmed that the incident will be fully investigated by NASA and Roscosmos, the Russian Space Agency and expressed optimism and pledged that both the astronaut and cosmonaut will join the International Space Station soon.
«I would like to extend a special thanks to the Russian search and rescue teams,» he said, adding that the rescue operation involved paratroopers, helicopters and ATVs.
