ЧТО НОВОГО? /WHAT’S NEW?/City Plan Called a 'Death Sentence' for Moscow - 01 June 2010.More than 100 million square meters of housing will be built in Moscow over the next 15 years, according to the general plan for the city's development through 2025. The Public Chamber has called the general plan a "death sentence" for the city. Members of the body have sought to delay its approval, arguing that the proposal does nothing to resolve the capital's traffic problems or environmental woes and that it also threatens many of the city's historical landmarks. In part, the chamber found, only about 1,500 of Moscow's 8,500 architectural landmarks are marked on the general plan's map. (continued) Vocabulary
