Здравствуйте!
One Minute Videos
Dear friends and colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the "Leave No Child Out" campaign of
the NGO/UNICEF Regional Network for Children (RNC) in the CEE/CIS/Baltics*
region which will be launched in Istanbul in June 2003. RNC invites children
and young people up to the age of 20 to produce One Minute Videos about the
topic: social exclusion or discrimination of children. Those One Minutes
Videos might be shown at the launch of the campaign and will automatically
participate in the 2003 One Minute Awards' competition in Amsterdam.

1 - ONE MINUTE VIDEOS PROMOTING SOCIAL INCLUSION (EN)
The Leave No Child Out campaign of the NGO/UNICEF Regional Network for
Children (RNC) in the CEE/CIS/Baltics region will be launched in Istanbul in
June 2003. It will be a one-year, high profile advocacy campaign following
up on the successful 2001-2002 Say Yes for Children campaign that identified
Leave No Child Out as the top priority in our region. At the launch, we
would like to present a number of One Minute Videos produced by
children/youth from your countries focusing on themes of the campaign.
Therefore, One Minutes should target social exclusion/discrimination of chil
dren based on:
· Ethnicity/Religion
· Gender
· Poverty
· Disabilities
· Displacement (IDPs and refugees)
· HIV/AIDS stigmatisation
· Institutionalization
They can portray the problems associated with social exclusion and
discrimination, and/or they can show what is being done, or needs to be
done, to overcome these problems. This request is linked to the
UNICEF-supported Young People's Media Network, coordinated by Chris Schuepp
( cschuepp@unicef.org). We are currently working with the European Cultural
foundation (www.eurocult.org) and the Sandberg Institute (www.sandberg.nl )
on a project called "The One Minutes Jr." in the YPMN framework (
http://www.theoneminutesjr.org)
One Minutes is a film genre that is very attractive for young people. It is
rather easily produced and can have a lasting effect on the audience. It is
flexible as to content and style, except for the duration that has to be
exactly 60 seconds.
In 2002, we worked with our partner organizations (European Cultural
Foundation and the Sandberg Institute) on a pilot project and had a
competition for young One Minute makers that climaxed in the first ever One
Minutes Jr. award in Amsterdam in November 2002. The winning video came from
a 14-year old boy from Armenia and had "Children & War" as its topic ? you
can see it online in the One Minute archive at www.theoneminutesjr.org
together with a number of other One Minutes from the 2002 competition.
The 2003 One Minute Awards will take place in Amsterdam again in November
this year. All One Minutes produced for the Leave No Child Out Campaign
launch in Istanbul will automatically be sent by us - through the Young
People's Media Network - to the One Minute Award event organizers and will
become part of the competition.
We encourage you to inform youth media groups in your countries about this
initiative and help them to produce One Minutes on the themes of the Leave
No Child Out campaign. The best One Minutes on the campaign themes will be
compiled on one tape and shown in Istanbul - they could also be used by all
of you as advocacy tools and could be broadcast by local, regional and
national TV stations or at UNICEF events in your countries.
Basically all you have to keep in mind is: The One Minutes have to be
exactly one minute long and have to be produced exclusively by
children/youth up to the age of 20.
IMPORTANT -- THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITING ONE MINUTES TO BE SHOWN AT THE
ISTANBUL LAUNCH OF THE LEAVE NO CHILD OUT CAMPAIGN IS FRIDAY 9 MAY 2003. TO
SUBMIT A ONE MINUTE VIDEO ON SOCIAL INCLUSION
There are two options:
A) Go to your local UNICEF office and give the One Minute directly to the
Communication Officer. Mark it with the words "ONE MINUTE ON SOCIAL
INCLUSION" and it will get to us.
B) Send the One Minute (also clearly marked words "ONE MINUTE ON SOCIAL
INCLUSION") by mail to: Chris Schuepp - Young People's Media Network c/o
