История создания

 Группа Led Zeppelin основана в октябре 1968-го гитаристом Джимми Пейджем (Джеймс Патрик Пейдж)( YARDBIRDS),в качестве басиста он взял Джона Пол Джонса (Джон Болдуин) Вокалистом должен был стать Терри Рейд, но тот посоветовал обратиться к Роберту Планту. Плант привел с собой ударника Джона Бонхэма. Группа сначала называлась "New Yardbirds", но стиль группы настолько разительно отличался от традиционно блюзовой манеры Yardbirds что менеджер Питер Грант придумал для них новое название -"Led Zeppelin".

В январе 1968-го вышел их дебютный альбом "Led zeppelin I"

Альбом "Led zeppelin II"считается первым альбомом хард-рока. Шедевром стал "Led zeppelin IV" с хитом "Stairway to Heaven"

Следующие десять лет были полны виртуозной, на грани пресловутого контракта с дьяволом, музыки, сочетающий традиционный английский фольклор с психоделией и хард-роком, не менее диких оргий и экспериментов с чёрной магией. Получивший титул "Паганини гитары" Пейдж гипнотизировал публику немыслимыми звуками, которые ему удавалось извлечь из своего инструмента, и злые языки поговаривали, что здесь не обошлось без штудирования рукописей чёрного мага Алистера Кроули (в 1972 году гитарист даже поселился в когда-то принадлежавшем Кроули особняке на берегу озера Лох-Несс). Джон Под Джонс казался полной противоположностью своего коллеги, и даже не лез особо в луч прожектора на концертах - однако и из этого факта родилась легенда о том, что виртуозный бас-гитарист якобы заложил нечистому... собственную тень! Вышедшее в 1975 году видео "The Songs Remains The Same", где концертные съёмки перемежались клипами в стиле фэнтези, ещё более сгустили вокруг группы мистический туман. В одном из роликов Джонс был одновременно смиренным органистом в храме, наводящим ужас на деревенских жителей всадником в маске и примерным отцом семейства. Пейдж в свою очередь, по сюжету другого клипа встречался на вершине заснеженной горы с отшельником, который при помощи волшебного фонаря показывал гитаристу его прошлое и будущее...

В 1980 году в результате хорошей попойки в особняке Пейджа после очередной репетиции погибает ударник Бонхэм. Он умер, захлебнувшись собственными рвотными массами. После этого официально объявили о роспуске "Led zeppelin".

В 1982 году выходит их последний альбом "Coda", смикшированный из записей сделанных еще при жизни Бонхэма. Оставшиеся участники группы с тех пор играли с другими музыкантами, занимались сольными проектами и при этом всегда помогали друг другу. Все вместе они собирались весной 1988 года, но только ради единственного концерта, посвященного 20-летию группы (за ударной установкой сидел сын Джона Бонхэма.
