In the Carpathian Mountains, I never went, and in the west of Ukraine was not. Before the campaign, I knew one distinctive feature of these ancient mountains, there are very often raining. Promonitoriv the weather for the past few weeks I realized that it would be wet. And so it happened. Upon arrival in the Ivano-Frankivsk weather greeted me with open arms - ie rain and wind. This meeting I never for a moment confused. To the surprise of the group has a considerable (14 people with an instructor) and this fact gave me confidence that in spite of the bad weather campaign must succeed.

Carpathians affect

      This is my first trip to the Carpathians. Prior to this, only went to the Crimea, so I'll say it's not the Carpathians Crimea and to compare them with each other can not, because they are two completely different regions with different climates and the nature of the terrain. Carpathians affect its color, boundless expanse, majesty and mystery.

      I do not know if I agreed to this adventure if it knew in advance what I will have difficulties overcome, but now, after it, I can say most definitely - I liked it. Quite unexpectedly for myself, I was in an environment that required complete all forces - and physical and moral. And it was great.

«Белый Слон» - зимний поход в Карпаты

Карпаты , 3 дня. 23 км. 900гривен . Сложность: выше средней. [raspisanie:белый слон] Короткий зимний поход с ночлегами в пастушеской избушке (колыбе) с печкой. Цель похода - восхождение на третью по высоте гору украинских Карпат Поп-Иван Черногорский(2028 м). На ее вершине стоит заброшенная обсерватория, которая зимой покрываются метровым слоем льда и превращается в сказочного "Белого слона". Если повезет с погодой, то вас ждут потрясающие панорамы заснеженого Черногорского хребта (видна Говерла)и румынских Карпат. А если не повезет - то вы на своей шкуре почувствуете, что такое сугробы по пояс и снежный шторм. Зато как приятно будет потом вернуться к теплой печке :) Ивано-Франковск - с.Верховина - с. Шибене - полонина Веснярка - гора Поп Иван Черногорский (2028 м) - с.Шибене - Ивано-Франковск

White Elephant - winter hike in the Carpathian mountains

Carpathians , 3 days. 23 km HIE . Difficulty: above average. [raspisanie:white elephant] Short winter hike with lodgings for the night in a shepherd's hut (restaurant) with the stove. The purpose of the campaign is climbing the third highest mountain of the Ukrainian Carpathians Pop Ivan Montenegro(2028 m). On its summit stands an abandoned Observatory, which in winter are covered with meter-thick layer of ice and turns in the tale "the White elephant". If you are lucky with the weather, you will have excellent views of the snow-covered Montenegrin ridge (visible Hoverla)and the Romanian Carpathians. And if you're not lucky, then you are on your own skin will feel the waist-deep snowdrifts and snow storm. But how nice it would be then to return to the warm stove :)
