I'm a mouse guy. I went to school with a bunch of engineers and have worked among them my entire career, but I somehow managed to avoid their proclivity for keyboard shortcuts. Given the choice betw
Julia Brown has posted some tips about archiving under Notes 8.x. But she also has a request. If you use these tips, she'd like you to leave a comment about them.
InViewEdit - that's where you can create a new doc and enter values in fields right in the view (bit like a spreadsheet!). A line of text appears at the bottom of the view which says "Ctrl-Click here to add a new document".
This has the potential to be quite useful, however once the view has a lot of docs then it's a nusiance to have to scroll to the bottom to add the new doc.
It would be much better for the user if you could choose to display this line at top or bottom, or even after a particular category if it appeared in the view.
The new doc won't stay at the top (or bottom) but will jump to the appropriate place in the view based on the values entered, but I just want the user to be able to open the view and create a new doc right at the top.

It would be nice to provide an "email chaser" view to show all sent emails with no response. (that means the recipient has not responded yet. An action button "Send Chaser" would trigger a new memo with preconfigured text. (i.e "did u miss this email?", etc)
The template should have some modern UI for all kinds of elements and implement some generic, high quality solutions for field level trails, pushing changed values to other docs (even in other DBs), logging, validation, localization, help... and it should have proper object orientated, modularized and reusable code, which you can use and customize without loosing the ability to import future versions of the code. The result should be a template, on which you can base your own databases and lower the time build high level stuff. In my opinion such a code drop from IBM (if it is good, what I hope...) will help lots of persons and companies doing there own solutions and also help to avoid old style UI, which gives Notes such a bad reputation. It will also help with fixing all the annoyances, which are a problem to such solutions, if IBM has to develop such a template. I don't mind in which language and UI element (old style or xPages) this is done.
I know that it's obviously something different to have the formula functionality in Lotus Notes and on the web browser, however, there has to be a way without getting crunk on Dojo to implement this functionality. At least @DialogBox with another xPage to open (maybe with a view control to serve as a picklist).
