Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock arrived in Sana'a amid a deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country, Wednesday.
«I've come here because I'm very concerned about the humanitarian situation in Yemen», said Lowcock adding that the country is facing the «world's worst cholera epidemic» in addition to food shortages.
The UN official is expected to discuss options for strengthening humanitarian assistance in the country during his visit.
Earlier this year, the UN made an appeal to stop Yemen's famine. Over three million Yemeni citizens, including 2.1 million children, are currently facing starvation.
