The World Cup title should be a source of «strength» rather than a «burden», said France national manager Didier Deschamps during a pre-match press conference in Munich on Wednesday.
«This title should be a source of strength and confidence, we can rely on and feed from what happened, but we must stay aware that we'll be facing a difficult match», he said.
Defender Raphael Varane agreed with his manager's words. «I don't think this two-star jersey will weigh any heavier», he said, referring to the success of Les Bleus' second World Cup title. «I think we've shown what we were capable of, and for the next four years our reputation will precede us.»
The French national football team will play Germany on Thursday, in their first competitive match since their victory against Croatia in the World Cup Final in Russia.

The Russian national football team trained in Trabzon's Senol Gunes Stadium on Thursday, one day ahead of Friday’s UEFA Nations League opening match against Turkey.
The new tournament will be played in 2018/9 outside of the normal World Cup and European Championship calendar.
All 55 European nations have been split into four tiers based on their ranking, which are subdivided into groups of three or four teams.
Russia are in Tier B and will face Turkey and Sweden in Group 2.
Each side will play against a home and away fixture against their opponents this autumn. The winner of each group will gain promotion to a higher tier, while the team which finishes bottom will suffer relegation. The four teams which top the top tier groups will go on to play a mini-tournament the following summer to decide the eventual winner of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

Portugal and Croatia drew 1-1 on Thursday, after a friendly match held at at Estadio do Algarve in Faro.
Ivan Perisic gave Croatia the lead in the first half, but Pepe found the net in the second half-time for Portugal. The Portuguese defender marked his 100th international appearance with Portuguese colours.
Croatian coach Zlatko Dalic said he «was not expecting a brilliant performance» just after the World Cup, and admitted his «surprise with the quality performance of Portugal.»
For Portuguese defender Pepe, «the team played well», and the new players Fernando Santos brought in «made the most of it.»
