Система компьютерной алгебры GAP: Conference in Manchester for Geoffrey Robinson



There will be a conference and Heilbronn Day in honour of Geoffrey
Robinson's 60th birthday, held at the University of Manchester, 2-6 September 2013.

Monday 2nd September: Heilbronn Day - ``Groups and Their Representations''.
This will be a day of lectures aimed at a general audience.
The speakers will be:

Meinolf Geck (Stuttgart)
George Glauberman (Chicago)
Robert Guralnick (Southern California)
Bob Oliver (Paris 13)

Tuesday 3rd - Friday 6th September: ``Brauer's problems - 50 years on''.
The focus of this conference will be Richard Brauer's seminal list of
open problems in representation theory published in 1963, including
progress on the existing problems and suggestions for new ones.

The principal speakers will be:
David Benson (Aberdeen)
Michel Broue' (Paris 7)
Michael Collins (Oxford)
David Craven (Birmingham)
Karin Erdmann (Oxford)
Burkhard Ku:lshammer (Jena)
Gunter Malle (Kaiserslautern)
Gabrial Navarro (Valencia)
Raphael Rouquier (UCLA)
John Thompson (Florida)

There will also be opportunities to give 30 minute talks. Anyone wishing to be considered for one of these should contact the organisers.

Some funding is available for postgraduate students.
