ADVANCED INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ON GALOIS GROUPS

Bilbao, July 2012

http://go.ehu.es/schoolgalois

THERE ARE STILL A FEW GRANTS AVAILABLE. IF YOU WANT TO APPLY, DO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

On occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of E'variste Galois, the Iberian Network of Group Theory and the University of the Basque Country organise an advanced international school on Galois groups. The school consists of the following two courses:

THE INVERSE GALOIS PROBLEM,
by Gunter Malle (University of Kaiserslautern).

GALOIS THEORY AND ARITHMETIC OF p-EXTENSIONS,
by Christian Maire (University of Franche-Comte') and Ja'n Mina'c< (University of Western Ontario).

These courses will be given from July 16 to 27, and they consist of 10 lectures plus 4 problem sessions, for a total of around 21 hours each. The school has an advanced level, and some of the prerequisites may not be known to all the participants. For this reason, the week before, starting on July 9, there will be a precourse devoted to these prerequisites.

The school is intended for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, but it is also open to senior researchers who might be interested. All lectures will be given in English.

A number of grants are offered for Masters students, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows (with doctorate completed in 2009 or later), covering partially the cost of accommodation.

You can find more details in the school webpage: http://go.ehu.es/schoolgalois
