MATERIALS: BERROCO SMART COTTON (50 grs), 8 (10-12-13-15-16-18) balls #1324 Ballet Pink for Dress, 1 ball for Purse.
Straight knitting needles, size 7 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE. 2(2-2-2-3-3-3) BERROCO buttons, #A324 Ballet Pink for Dress, 1 for Purse.

For Dress Only: 16" length circular knitting needle, size 7. 1 St holder. 1 1/4" snap.

For Purse Only: Crochet hook, size 3.50 mm (E). 1 1/4" snap.

GAUGE: 21 sts = 4";15 rows = 2" in St st. 6 sts = 1"; 7 rows = 1" in rib pat. 36 sts = 6 1/2"; 7 rows = 1" in lace pat. TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHEK GAUGES.

BACK: Cast on 80 (91-102-113-113-124-124) sts. Work in lace pat for 12 (14-16-17-18-19-20)", end on RS. P next row on WS, dec 17 (22-27-32-26-33-27) sts evenly spaced across - 63 (69-75-81-87-91-97) sts. Bodice: Work in rib pat, and for sizes 12 and 14 only, beg pat with k1, p1 and end with p1, k1. Continue in pat as established for 5 3/4 (6-6 1/2- 7-7 1/4-7 1/2-8)". Bind off in Rib Pat.

FRONT: Work same as for back to 1 row before bodice. P next row on WS, dec 18 (23-28-33-27-34-28) sts evenly spaced across - 62 (68-74-80-86-90-96) sts. Divide for fronts: Next row (RS): Work 27(30-33-36-39-41-44) sts in rib pat, ending with k3 for sizes 2, 6, 10 and 12; and p1, k1, p1 for sizes 4, 8 and 14; place these sts on a holder for left front. K2, [p1, k1] 3 times (8 sts for button band), place marker, beg with k3 for sizes 2, 6, 10 and 12; and p1, k1, p1 for sizes 4, 8 and 14; work remaining 27(30-33-36-39-41-44) sts in Rib Pat for right front. Next row: Work rib pat to marker, sl marker, [p1, k1] 4 times. Continue in pat as established until bodice measures 3/4 (1-1-1-3/4-1/2-3/4)", end on WS. Next (buttonhole) Row (RS): Work 3 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end. On next row, cast on 2 sts over bound-off sts. Work another buttonhole when bodice measures 2 3/4 (3-3 1/2-3 1/2-2 3/4-2 1/2-2 3/4)". For sizes 10, 12 and 14 work another buttonhole when bodice measures (4 3/4-4 1/2-4 3/4)", then, for all sizes, work even until bodice measures 3 3/4 (4-4 1/2-4 1/2- 4 3/4-5-5 1/2)", end on WS. Shape Neck: Next Row (RS): Bind off 9 (10-10-10-10-10-10) sts (neck edge), work to end. Continue to bind off from neck edge 4 sts once, 2 sts twice, 1 st 0 (0-0-1-1-2-2) times. Work even until bodice measures 5 3/4 (6-6 1/2- 7-7 1/4-7 1/2-8)". Bind off  remaining 18 (20-23-25-28-29-32) sts for shoulder.

LEFT FRONT: With RS facing, sl sts from holder to needle, join yarn, place marker, then pick up and k 8 sts through back loop of right front band - 35 (38-41-44-47-49-52) sts. Next row (WS): [K1, p1] 4 times, beg with p3 for sizes 2, 6, 10 and 12; and k1, sl WYIF, k1 for sizes 4, 8 and 14; work in Rib Pat to end. Complete to correspond to right front, omitting buttonholes and reversing neck shaping.

SLEEVES: Sew shoulder seams. With RS facing, pick up and k 67 (69-75-81-85-87-93) sts along front and back bodice. P1 row. Row 1 (RS): K2 (3-3-3-2-3-3), work Row 1 of Rib Pat to last 2 (3-3-3-2-3-3) sts, k to end. Row 2: P2 (3-3-3-2-3-3), work Row 2 of Rib Pat to last 2 (3-3-3-2-3-3) sts, p to end. Rep these 2 rows until sleeve measures 4 1/2 (5-5-5 1/2-5 3/4-6-6 1/2)", end on Row 2. Bind off in Rib Pat.

FINISHING: Steam pieces. Collar: With WS facing, beg at center of left front button band, pick up and k 67 (71-71-75-75-79-79) sts evenly spaced around neck edge, end at center right front buttonhole band. Row 1 (RS): K1, p to last st, k1. Row 2: Knit. Rep last 2 rows until collar measures 2". K 4 rows. Bind off all sts. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. Sew snap at beg of neck shaping.

 

PURSE

FRONT: With straight needles, cast on 29 sts and work in Lace Pat as follows: Row 1 (RS): K2, work row 1 of lace pat over next 25 sts, k2. Continue in pat as established, keeping first and last2 sts in St st, until 12 rows of Lace Pat have been worked 3 times. K 1 row. Bind off.

BACK: Work as for front until 12 rows of Lace Pat have been worked 3 times. K the next row, dec 1 st each end - 27 sts. Flap: Work in Rib Pat over all sts for 4 rows. Continue in pat as established, dec 1 st each side every other row 6 times. Bind off remaining 15 sts.

FINISHING: Place front on top of back with WS's tog. With front facing, using crochet hook, join yarn at beg of flap and, working through double thickness of front and back, work in sc around side and lower edges to other side of flap. Fasten off. Turn piece so that RS of flap is facing, join yarn at beg of flap and work in sc around edge of flap, woking 3 sc's in each corner. Strap: Cut four 5-yard strands of yarn. Make a twisted cord. Knot at each end, leaving 2 1/2" ends for tassels. Sew through knots to each side of bag for shoulder strap. Sew snap to WS of flap and RS of purse to hold tog. Sew button to RS of flap.
