Must be solsticial conditions despite pitiful solar flux that account for Firedrake on 17 MHz at 13 UT. Specifically, 17565 at 1308, also audible on 17705, but not on the

latter at 1338 recheck. 17565, presumably against V. of Tibet, was stronger than Spain shortpath on 17595 (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 12/06/08)

No trace of Cuban music on 6100 when checked June 12 at 1308, just a fair signal in Russian talking about China, presumably CRI, which however per Aoki and Eibi is

supposed to be in Mongolian during this hour, in Russian until 1300. (R. Rossii in Tannu Tuva is also listed on 6100, but I can`t believe it was that.). However, at 1432 I

found another frequency for the unannounced Cuban music tests: 7365! With no jamming audible. 1459 to WHRI standard ID, asking for reports, no mention of ``next

broadcast`` frequency and off. Did not have time to search for the next frequency, if any. 7365 is a neat choice, already used by R. Marti at other hours, besides WHRI too.

This was not // Marti 13820. BTW, WHRI was missing from 11785 this morning, perhaps same transmitter currently on 7365 (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 12/06/08)

At 1220 UTC today (June 11), I tuned to 6105 to try
for the new Mexican outlet reported there. I was
unable to hear it, but did note a station on 6100
playing Cuban music. I first thought it was RHC or a
new relay of a Cuban domestic network, but there were
no announcements between songs or at the 1230 point.

The signal was fair when I first tuned in but
gradually faded as the sun rose here; the noise level
also increased. By 1250, I was forced to use USB and a
2.4 kHz filter but was copying only about 50% of the
transmission. It was still Cuban music with no
announcements.

At 1259, the transmission was interrupted in mid-song
by a male announcer in English. I did not copy all of
the announcement due to the poor signal----and, to be
honest, the announcement took me by surprise and I
wasn't prepared!----but I distinctly heard "you have
been listening to. . . . " and what seemed to be a
Washington, DC mailing address. The station
immediately left the air after the announcement.

It seems we probably have a new anti-Castro (or should
that be "anti-nuevo Castro"?) U.S. propaganda

vernacular, Islamic program (reciting from the Qur'an, Islamic type
music, etc.), singing "Sarawak" jingle, ToH 2 pips, 10 minutes of
news, music program (C&W song in English, pop songs in vernacular,
etc.), clearly // 5030 under CNR-1. The news was parallel with Klasik
Nasional FM on 5964.93, which was fair, but not parallel with Asyik FM
(6049.63) which was good. After 1300 light QRM on 7130 from CNR-2/CBR

Despues de leer el informe que [adelanto] el amigo Glenn Hauser sobre la escucha que realizo un colega en Florida de 6105 kHz, me comunique telefonicamente con el

director de "RASA Merida", Bernardo Laris, quien amablemente me informo que efectivamente desde hace dos meses han estado transmitiendo nuevamente por algunos

lapsos despues de varios anos de no hacerlo, en los 6105 kHz, tomando la programacion de su frecuencia en onda media que emite desde la Ciudad de Merida, capital del

Estado de Yucatan.

Utilizan el mismo viejo transmisor de 250 vatios con las limitantes que esto implica. Me informo Bernardo que ha estado buscando apoyo de diversas organizaciones para

conseguir un nuevo transmisor, ya que, el plan que tienen en mente es de transmitir las 24 horas del dia, dividiendo 12 horas para programacion en lengua maya y las

otras 12 horas tomando la senal de la "Radio 620" que es la estacion piloto de la "Gran Cadena RASA" y que se ubica en la Ciudad de Mexico.

Los ultimos dos dias, la senal de 6105 no habia salido al aire por una falla en el transmisor; sin embargo hoy pude captarla alrededor de las 2300 UT (18:00 del Centro de

Mexico) con un SINPO variable de 1 a 2, escuchando un programa musical, identificacion de la emisora y anuncios locales de Merida.

Ojala que fructifique este proyecto, ya que seria otra estacion mexicana que retoma la onda corta, y mas aun por que, tendria un perfil que prodriamos denominar hasta

cierto punto cultural, toda vez que la emision en lengua maya resulta por demas atractiva considerando la gran cantidad de personas que hablan dicha lengua,

principalmente en los estados mexicanos de Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco y Chiapas, asi como paises centroamericanos como Belice, Guatemala y

Honduras.

XEQM, 6104.9, June 12: at first check 1308 just a mess on frequency and did not hear a het of 200-400 Hz as required by previous reports of Merida`s varied frequency;

1335 Firedrake was audible. That was gone by 1350, just a very weak signal from presumed XEQM. This was probably even closer to 6105.0 but not quite. Talk intonation

seemed to be Spanish but could not recognize any words to be sure. 1352, a bit of ``When You Wish Upon A Star`` music underneath; 1354 just music with a beat; 1400

produced announcement, probably ID, again seemed Spanish but not positive, just too poor. Signal still in at 1421, momentarily QRMed by ``running water`` ute; and still at

1433. Those a little closer to Yucatan and/or with a bit better gain, S/N ratio should get this OK even in the daytime. Julian Santiago phoned the station and found out they

have been back on the air, with lapses, for two months, the old 250 watt transmitter. They want to get a new
transmitter and run 24 hours, half of that in Maya language, which is already running on XEMQ 810, but there are other stations in their group, and it`s not clear which one

they are relaying now when in Spanish, and whether they are putting Maya on SW yet. I want to know exactly what ID is to be heard on 6105v

America. Visit our web site at WHRI.org ..." in English. After the ID,

United States, 6100, WHRI, 0827-1005 At 0827 tuned to 6100 KHz for a check
to see if WHRI was up yet, but all I heard was the jammer noted yestereday
on
this freq. It's probably too early for WHRI anyway. I noticed that the
jammer
here sounds exactly like the one I am hearing on 6030 over Radio Marti this
morning.
At 0907, still no sign of WHRI on 6100 KHz, just the jammer. Yesterday WHRI
had already switch on by this time of the morning. Maybe they are giving up
on this freq?
Only time will tell?.

So nothing by 1000 UTC. WHRI is usually on the air by now. I suppose they
gave
up at Cypress Creek, I scanned the band (5880 KHz to 6200 KHz) looking for
steady Spanish music with a strong signal, and didn't hear anything with
those characteristics.
Not much of a backbone. I thought we might have a good contest here?

Maybe the jammer is actually covering WHRI? Yesterday that wasn't the
case. I could
hear WHRI better than the jammer, so I am thinking WHRI isn't on the air

Surprised to hear Arabic on 17690, at quick check 1831 UT Wednesday June 11. A new clandestine service, and/or was it really WHRA as scheduled? No and Yes: WHR

ID in English at 1859. Looked up later on the WHR online skeds, we see this:

One of the very annoying things about WHR schedules is that they do not explicitly state language of each listing, often given in English when they are not really in English!

Trouble is, ET/UT conversions are obviously for ST, not DST, so is the 1830 UT broadcast I heard now the one called ``1930``? WHRA sked currently shows both 1830 and

1930 as well as 1705. Wrong frequencies, too. BP sked is far out of date, still showing Venezuela on an even timezone! And why of all Arabic-speaking cities, do they pick

out Jerusalem? And why don`t they call it Al-Quds? And why in this case, do they have a 3-hour summer-time difference between UT and Israel even tho ET/UT are 5 hours

apart instead of 4? God apparently has not granted them the power to figure out timezones correctly.

At the bottom of the page B.P. admits it is trying to save ``country after country`` from being ``taken over by Islam``. Bible, Kor`an, Torah/Talmud --- they`re all Abrahamic

monotheists, well, with subdivisions in the case of the Christians (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

As reported by Jari Savolainen, the station playing Afro-pops at 0640 past
0700 on 7120 on June 11th was probably Chad. The signal was fair at best in
local noise, and language of announcements sounded a vernacular one. There
was also a signal present same time on adjacent 7125, but this was very
weak, and impossible to ID as Conakry, which is usually what I hear.

On 7165 a signal could be detected in the noise level at 0652, but I wasn't
sure if there was any audio or not - but there certainly was after 0700,
though the language was not clear. Could this be Radio Ethiopia which has a
Somali service at 0700? And on 7175 a transmission was found at 0715 (not
noted before 0700, so it could either have faded up or come on at that time)
and this one was playing Horn of Africa type music and song. It was slightly
stronger than 7165 and tentatively assumed as Eritrea - though I can't find
a listing for it after 0700. Both signals were still audible after 0730, but
appeared to be weakening.

I checked the 7 MHZ band between 7100 and 7300 at 0700+ but couldn't trace
any other African transmissions beside the ever present Tunis 7190. ETH
frequency 7110 only had a weak BLR transmission - there was nothing audible
on 7100 - and nothing audible from Nigeria on either 7275 or 7255.

Много операторов на 27 МГц. Отмечу переговоры на немецком языке на
частоте 27265 кГц, похоже на таксистов и диспетчера. На 27302 кГц похоже
были дальнобойщики, ибо долго и часто 3 человека болтали. Отличный
прием.

На ФМ к 01.00 вылезло Труйка польская на 99.9 из Гданьска, "Radio 5"
на 91.2 (отличный прием), и Радио Свобода на русском языке на 97.3 МГц
(ретрансляция через Zinius Radias, Вильнюс) хороший прием.

Ciao a tutti il 1 giugno ho approfittato anche se il tempo era nuvoloso per fare un giro in Alta Valle d'Aosta nella frazione Planpincieux di Courmayeur a 1600 metri in Val

Ferret e ho fatto questo bandscan dalle 11.49 alle 15.15 putroppo niente Es forse solo tropo dalla Svizzera e dalla Francia sempre con Degen 1103 con filtri da 110-80 KHz

e antenna telescopica.

SPE from the East at last! I had definite PTV, Pakistan on E4 with a
logo "PTV ONE" at the top right. I might also have had India on E4,
but reception was weak and brief. There was an unid on E2 which MIGHT
have been Pakistan too, but it was too weak to read the logo which
was at the top right. I have only ever seen listings of Pakistan on
E4, not E2. (I lived in Karachi in 2003, and E4 PTV was my local!)

Reception swung back to the "usual" direction and became stronger,
with Syria2 on E2, Syria1 on E3 and E4 and JTV Jordan on E3.

short-range regulars are nicely enhanced, unlike yesterday, also
Lille, Tournai, Wavre and Egem are up. Tournai on 101.8 and 102.6 is
fighting with Classic FM (Swingate) and Essex FM (Bakers Wood)
respectively. No enhancement noted to Germany this morning. Wrotham
nationals are at local strength.

Alas the very good coditions that were about this morning in B1 on CH
E2/R1 + 6m has been replaced by a dead band. I heard several 6m
beacons this morning & one in particular was around 50.025 but i doubt
it could've been the Cape Verde signal given the aerial was in a NE.E
direction but i'll check again early this evening from the S.SW @
18:00hrs local.
Outside in the garden at the moment is 36C under direct sunlight so
possibly ideal cdx's later for 'E's & tropo?

Non capitano spesso tutte queste emittenti in un botta sola, non
dimentichiamo infatti che mi trovo comunque all'interno e coperto da
diversi ponti locali.

In genere ho notato che queste situazioni si verificano quando arriva
un richiamo caldo africano, accompagnato spesso da scirocco che
precede una perturbazione presente nella penisola iberica. Con lo
spostamento di quest'ultima verso l'Italia la tropo cala e spesso
arriva dopo 24- 36 ore il maltempo.

Been receiving Venezuela Ch A2 Tves again from about 19.55BST,first on
a conference speech by Mr Chavez,the president,then an id and then
onto cartoons around 20.25BST.

Got an id + sound but it was a bit ghosty and messy.

This transmitter isn't the same one as last week,around 55.249220MHz
and the other one from memory was around 55.250050.

Signals were briefly up to ch A4 but these were very weak

Just after the Venezuelan reception another signal appeared
on ch 2 with a logo at the top right though very ghosty.
Finally had an ident "Tele Antillas" around 20.40GMT.

NO ID 15635, a las 17:35 del 13 de junio observo dos emisoras en colisión en ésta frecuencia, las dos son en francés, en una se aprecia la voz de un hombre y en la otra

la voz de una mujer, lo curioso es que las dos aparecen y desaparecen al mismo tiempo, lo que me surge la duda de que se traten de dos nuevas emisiones, quizá algún

producto extraño, o sea que mas bien se trate de dos emisiones fantasmas.

religious-sounding broadcast mentioning a sponsor from Nova Scotia. The
program ended at around 1758 and the carrier staid on for a couple of
minutes more. Could this be Bana? The signal was too strong for my

these are Polish Military.
The idents are "short-cutted" for WIE028 and OLI021.
The first two letters and the last figure of the "long"-ident put together
to form these kind if short-cuts.

The Polish do this from time to time. Also in their other nets, e.g. on their
IRQ deployment net with IG4 for IGIELIT14 and CUA for CUKIERNIA
or LC2 for LCR152.(dl8aam - udxf 10/06/08)

1310UTC, 13041кГц, телеграфом передаются пятизначные группы цифр.
В 1315UTC передали "TTT TTT" и станция выключилась.

1435-1455UTC, 8430кГц, "DE A9M TLX" телеграфом + кодированная
информация цифровой связью. Шухрат, может вы знаете как и чем ее можно
декодировать?

1905UTC, 8426кГц, "DE SVO", CW, Греция.

1923UTC, 4326кГц, телеграфом передают буквы "TM". Кто/что это?

1936-2006UTC, 6834кГц, принял 3 факсовых сообщения с небольшими
перерывами между ними, карты погоды. ID не разобрал, местные помехи.


На днях поставил программу JVCom32 1.40, не могу толком разобраться в
ней, еще и регистрацию требует. Может кто знает как в ней настроить
прием факсовых сообщений? Заранее благодарен!

Телеграфисты иногда используют для передачи цифры "0" вместо пяти тире одну длинную посылку, то есть одно тире. Поэтому, "TTT ТТТ" после пятизначных

цифр это "000 000". Типичная концовка для шифрограмм у голосовых станций (да и у станций, работающих в Морзе-коде тоже).
Такая же ситуация, скорее всего с буквами "ТМ": это просто три ноля "000". Типичное содержание шифрограмм, для контрольных передач, у Numbers stations.То

есть: "Все нормально, без изменений. Действуем по ранее утвержденному плану".

here are some of ALF's loggings from recent days.

The unid Ukrainian Military UWA211 showed up again. This one was a
regular visitor in CW with USU8. Now it called the "new" call UZC
on a "new" frequency 6245 kHz. Any idea who it be ?

Refer to IRQ MIL ident "DYA" on 6852 kHz.
I found a small location called Diana / Diyanah, Arbil Prov.
on the highways 3 from Arbil to Heidarabad, Iran with "Iraqi Army
Facilities" and/or a "Iraqi Border Patrol battalion".
Could be as it follow a "little bit" the format for the other new
"3-letter" ident NYN, which was IDed by Leif as an Iraqi Army
Operational Command in Ninawa (=Nynawa =Nineveh).

Any idea about the "multinational MIL" trigraph net on 6224 kHz,
any exercise traffic ??

BTW, on the Russian/CIS domestic aero net, on the "callword" variant
at least some no-Russian players using their real location names
(here "Tashkent") as callnames. The Russian players using "camouflaged"
callnames like ALENKI, RADAN etc.

The unid "A/B-net" (CO120A and OR200A) show up on a new frequency
of 6706 kHz withz a loud signal at local "Mid European" noon time,
so it will be something from Central Europe. The Hungarian Amateur
radio Intruder watch reported this net on exact 7000 kHz at 5th May
with OC700B & OR200A around 1300 local time (but not mentioned about
the signal strenght). Buat maybeeeee this net is more a "Easter" as
"Western" European one? More to do ;-)

BTW, these Hungarian logged a new unid ALE net on 7097 kHz with
players: 6ST, 7ST and 9ST. I did not see any spots in UDXF so far.

Many BaltOps vessels, including one unid ("RAU").
That might be maybe the Norwegian Navy vessel "KNM Rauma (M 352)",
but I can't find any refer to any Norwegian navy participant in that
"Baltic Sea" exercise. But the KMS Rauma is the only vessels
starting with RAU in the lastest (?) issue of the ACP-113 version

Any idea about the international Rxxx callsigns of the two Russian
Navy palyers?

Any idea who are the "BRAVO"s ?. The B should stand for BaltOps,

The German trigraph Z0O on 5100 with a NUKO-formated location report
was also BaltOps related??? Maybe the Polish MIL trigraphs on 5743 kHz
too?

South American net on 6771.5 kHz. One callsign reported last night
sounded like "GIGATOORO". The net practise sounded "semi-formal"

... as the next "Air Force One" could be received on 5598 kHz.
Sadly still not the "real" one, but this time "BFA 01",
the AF1 of the President of Burkina Faso, Mr Blaise Compaoré.
According to the "UN Multimedia" website

he was in New York at a "high-level meeting on a comprehensive review
of the progress achieved in realizing the Declaration of Commitment

The "collection" of AF1 become larger and larger ;-))
But so far no QSL replies at all from any of them :-(

Inmigrantes japoneses en Brasil siguen fieles a su ?Radio Gimnasia?

Este ano, en el centenario del inicio de la inmigracion japonesa al pais suramericano, que suma ya mas de 1,5 millones de inmigrantes, la "Radio Taisso" ocupa un lugar

destacado dentro de las tradiciones de la cultura japonesa que se mantienen intactas. EFE La practica que se reglamento en 1928 y comenzo en la radio japonesa,

cuando no habia television, continua en Brasil fiel a su origen y decenas de personas, en su mayoria de la tercera edad, se reunen de lunes a sabado a las seis de la

manana para su actividad fisica.

A diferencia de Brasil, donde la "Radio Taisso" es divulgada por pequenas emisoras radiales comunitarias y a traves de megafonos del os instructores, en Japon se realiza

a traves del canal de television NHK, todos los dias tambien a las seis horas de la manana.

La practica de esta modalidad de la gimnasia aerobica llego al pais en 1978 como parte de la celebracion de sus cincuenta anos y los setenta de la inmigracion japonesa

al pais suramericano y desde esa fecha el numero de seguidores aumenta dia a dia.

La coordinadora de la Federacion Paulista de Radio Taisso, Miriam Miyamoto, senalo en dialogo con la Agencia EFE que la organizacion, que cuenta con 48 asociaciones

en todo el estado de Sao Paulo, reune unos 3.000 afiliados a esta practica deportiva.

El numero, sin embargo, es mayor por los practicantes "no federados" que tienen aulas de "Radio Taisso" en algunas companias de origen japones instaladas en Brasil o

instituciones publicas y privadas, como el estatal Hospital das Clinicas, en Sao Paulo.

"La practica de la 'Radio Taisso' no es exclusiva de japoneses o descendientes de japoneses. Aca en Sao Paulo tenemos muchos grupos con miembros no japoneses,

como los de los parques de la Republica, Trianon y Luz", apunto la coordinadora y tambien instructora.

Miyamoto detallo que a pesar de ser una practica abierta a personas de todas las edades, la mayoria de practicantes son "adultos mayores", especialmente mujeres.

"La mujer, en esta parte de actividad fisica, es un poco mas animada que el hombre y en el caso de la tercera edad vemos que existe mayor disponibilidad de tiempo y de

madrugar bien temprano para hacer los ejercicios", explico.

En Brasil existen otras organizaciones de Taisso en Rio de Janeiro y Campo Grande, capital del centro-occidental estado de Mato Grosso do Sul.

Uno de los objetivos de la "Radio Taisso" es "acondicionar" a las personas para sus actividades fisicas y laborales del dia con una pequena carga de actividad fisica para la

"activacion muscular", mediante ejercicios catalogados como "leves" por diferentes profesionales de la salud y la educacion fisica.

Los mismos especialistas han recomendado la practica de la "Radio Taisso" para el combate a la depresion, estres, enfermedades cardiovasculares, diabetes, colesterol,

envejecimiento precoz, hipertension arterial, lesiones por esfuerzo repetitivo y transtornos oseo-musculares relacionados con la carga laboral.

La plaza del barrio Liberdade, con cerca de un millon de inmigrantes de Asia Oriental, reune todos los dias a una centena de practicantes de "Radio Taisso", quienes con

su ropa deportiva blanca y el espiritu jovial, ponen una nota mas al cotidiano de la vida de la mayor metropoli suramericana.

Last Wednesday the German newspaper taz published an interview with
Deutsche Welle director Erik Bettermann:

Key points:

Abandoning shortwave is unavoidable, not only because it's so expensive,
also because even people in classical radio continents like Africa make
only little use of it anymore, mostly limited to rural areas. In the
towns one has to be on FM to reach listeners, and DW does not want to
become a Landfunk [that's a sneering reference to programmes for farmers
which were decades ago scheduled on some German stations].

Presumably we will be on shortwave a bit longer in certain areas like
China, we are very flexible in this regard. There are problems in China
for years. In 2004 we applied for a licence to distribute our TV service
in China via satellite, but the Chinese authorities made no decision
about this until today. The DW website is also disturbed, again and
again it gets switched white. In this case simply nothing is on, even in
such harmless matters like the football site www.germanfootball.cn. At
least DW-TV is amongst the 20 stations that can be received in the
Olympic Village.

How will DW reach its audiences in future: TV will be the buzzer [or
"what opens the door", the German word "Turoffner" is ambiguous here],
and for deepening the coverage there will be either a radio service or
our website in the respective languages, including audio and video
podcasts. We want to further strengthen the convergence between our
three media, TV, radio and online.

The now launched reform projects of course result in fears amongst
employees. Take the shortwave exit: This concerns a complete engineering
department. But media companies must be ready for reforms. I guarantee
that no lay-offs will take place while I'm in office. But it is a matter
of course that people have to be prepared for changes, as an example to
be willing to retrain.

Comment: It appears that "it concerns a complete engineering department"
means that DW plans to wind up its transmission management. This could
be related to other statements from outside DW, in this case from Radio
Taiwan International, where it had been said in reference to visits at
DW in Bonn and Berlin that the shortwave transmissions of DW will end
altogether by 2012 or 2013. Maybe a few services will still remain after
that deadline, but entirely managed by VTC (or whoever they may choose
as contractor then). But this just remains to be seen.

It should be noted that the interview uses the wording "analogue
shortwave". I omitted that because it appears that there is no need for

Судя по всему, прекращает работать только RSI, но КВ-передатчики останутся в
эфире с ретрансляциями местного сингапурского радио. У Мартина Шоха в QSL
Information Pages (www.schoechi.de/qip) я вижу, что от них тоже приходят
QSL; да и ретрансляторы BBC, Р.Японии и проч. QSL нам отправляют.

Так что страна из эфира (пока) не исчезает.

Una empresa de Recoleta fabrica transmisores de radio digital y exporta el 90% de su produccion. Aunque la Subtel no enfrenta este tema aun, Continental Lessa

prospera.
Evo Morales usa sus transmisores de onda corta para llegar a las comunidades indigenas.
"Este es el segundo transmisor que fabricamos para el Gobierno de Bolivia", cuenta Marcos Caballero, presidente de Continental Lensa, mientras muestra un ropero

metalico justo al medio de una fabrica en Recoleta. "Ellos tienen muchos indigenas en regiones alejadas que reciben senales en onda corta. Y hay dos mas que les vamos

a fabricar mas adelante. Son de 10 kilowatts, de onda corta, estado solido".Esta empresa, que ya tiene 20 anos, nunca uso tubos. Se manejo siempre con transistores.

Сегодня также получил ответ от GrootNieuwsRadio, по обычной почте, вместе с
3 листовками было и подтверждение, более похожее на ЩСЛ письмо - указано и
имя, и дата, и частота, лишь время не указали, зато подтвердили даже детали
программы (названия звучавших песен...). Так что кое-что о ЩСЛ они всё-таки
знают, правда, мне отписался Jelmer Schuurman, так что для получения
подтверждения, думаю, лучше писать на его имя. Рапортовал по имєйлу, ответ
через 110 дней.

В сообщении также отмечается что с октября "Amigos de la Onda Corta" получит новое название в связи с изменением тематики в сторону новых технологий в

радиовещании и т.п. Нового названия пока что нет, принимаются версии радиослушателей.
