BBCWS via Ascension to Africa, 21470, unexpectedly good, S9+10, May 20 at 1327, only signal on 13m band, report on how India thrives on chaos, in Global Business.

Maybe was getting help on the last hop from some sporadic E (WWCR 15825 also up), and by 1405 had declined to fadey S6-S9.

Checking for SERBIA 6185, May 21 at 0004, also went to the two frequencies I had suggested for them to get away from the QRM, 6190, and 6195. 6190 was still vacant,

but very weak signal on 6195, which by 0025 I could tell was in English. Can`t be anything but BBCWS via Singapore, scheduled 22-01, sort of grayline well before sunset

here. If BBC would not mind, it could still be used by IRS to NAm, further away from the mess on 6180 and certainly much less of a collision than with the Mex on 6185

AUSTRALIA. Domestic HF --- Came across this on the ACMA database... He
has 5 licences for Domestic HF Broadcasting from different capital
cities all on 2368.5 kHz. Anyone have any idea what this is about?
Actually I see a few others have licences on this frequency as well

As I recall this came up a few years ago, and the assumption was that
this is a foot-in-the-door for some possible digital broadcasting.
Altho the emission designation on these is 6K00A3E. 73, (Glenn Hauser,

AUSTRALIA. Re 5-215, 2368 kHz licenses: G'Day, Yes it's Peter Tait
here on the Gold Coast. He intends to put them on and I quote: "when
funds permit" !! i.e. sometime in the never never. Peter Tait is a
regular contributor with postings to the news group:
'aus.radio.broadcast'. Anyway isn't he a member of ARDXC?? Isn't he on

AUSTRALIA. Hi Glenn, Regarding Chris Martin's comment about 2368,
Peter Tate, I last talked to Peter about 2 years ago. He was indeed
hell bent on transmitting on 2368 from the Gold coast in the
hinterland from Coolangatta, QLD. He was driving a taxi to make ends
meet. He had HOT FM on 1692 kHz as well. He did so well as a supposed
to be community (non commercially station) that he was killing the
commercials, hence he was shut down, or rather he closed the station.
He was a member of the ARDXC to about June 30th 2002. Anyway it would
be great if Peter had the funds for the antenna. I think he has the
transmitter. I have Peter's phone number somewhere so I will ring him
when I find out what`s happening and let everyone know. Cheers and

The 2368.5 kHz Frequency is in the 120 Metre "Tropical Band" and at 1
kW is simply used for Local Region Broadcasting which can often run
24/7.

Were we in California -USA- may have Noise all over the Band at that
UT. They may be in a Quiet Period in Australia. Plus even on a Noisy
Band -if- you are 'close enough' {in Country} 1 kW will get through.

We have been hearing a Greek music station since 8 pm [1000 UT] on 2368.47 and detective work here at Cataract Dam has shown Radio Symban have this frequency

allocated using 1 kW from a transmitter site near Gosford (Peats Ridge). I first noted it at 8 pm local and others are also hearing it.

A call to the studio just now didn't confirm either way as reception was too poor due to storms around for them to confirm the music being played, and they are going to

have the technician confirm and call me back.

If this is what it is then it is the first of many licences that have been allocated in this band (some up to 6 years ago) to actually come on air.

Radio Symban also operates a 151 MHz subscription transmitter as well as holding various expanded band (1611-1701 kHz) licences around the country. Unfortunately the

a male in Spanish Comments afterwards. Signal's peak period has already passed with
it now being almost threshold; and by 1030, signal almost having disappeared.

BRAZIL. I scan the 60 mb just about every night around 0600, and never heard anything on 4755 until May 20, besides CODAR, of course. At 0621 music, and talk

definitely in Brazilian Portuguese, so my first thought that PMA might finally have come back was quickly dashed; a bit early for them anyway, 1721 local. It was also very

slightly on the low side, but I would not say as low as 4754.90. Presumed R. Imaculada Conceição as others have been reporting. Apparently all-night now, and I wonder if

that is a recent expansion in hours accounting for its new audibility? However, it sounded more like a commercial station to me than a religionist. Nothing else from Brazil

found on 60m except a trace of 4915; 4790 Perú however was stronger than usual.

As byproduct of looking for International Radio Serbia on 6185, I had to deal with the splatter from RHC on 6180, May 21 at 0004; 6180 itself had heavy SAH and QRM from

Amazonian service, as usual. This was // clear 11780, but when I rechecked at 0021, 11780 was no longer to be heard, just bleedover from DentroCuban jamming against

later. Also audible at 1416 on 11670, which made an echo with 13750 due to different transmitter site and/or program feed routing

Despite the fact that "The Voice of Greece" is no longer broadcasting in Portuguese, and also ceased brodcasts to South America in Greek a couple of years ago, it is,

still, my favorite shortwave radio station. Last week I received a message from one of its programs, called "O Tahydromos" (The Mailman), which happens to be the program

of contact with the listeners. The message was about a special edition of that program, which will take place on the 21st of May, starting at 11 hours and ending at 12

hours, Greek time, of course (8 through 9 hours UTC). It will be a special broadcast and the listeners will be able to take part live, provided they send their telephone

numbers to the program.

Unfortunately, nothing to say about special QSLs...

where I heard a parallel transmission. All hard copy references say the
Spanish transmission begins at 0045 vice 0145. At 0159 a silent period is
noted. At 0200 time ticks again and female

CHU missing from 7335, May 19 at 0135 --- not a trace, even with BFO on, just Vatican with S Asian service; yet CHU was inbooming on 14670 and also audible on 3330,

Because it are different stations. CNR is the nationwide broadcaster at
Beijing, which produces a special service for Sichuan, and that's what
13840 carries. PBS Sichuan is the Sichuan province station at Chengdu,
and its first program (otherwise FM/MW only) is at present relayed on
9740, perhaps from different sites day and night. See earlier messages

Firedrake musical jamming check Sunday May 18, noting some differences from the day before:

17565, poor at 1336, so must be the current jumpy frequency of V. of Tibet via Uzbekistan? Not 17557 as in Aoki, but probably lands there upon occasion. Ends at 1400.

17550, FD at 1406, no doubt vs V. of Tibet via Madagascar, which I believe does not jump around or vary. Starts at 1400.

14410 and 13345, FD at 1411, both against low-power Sounds of Hopes. 14410 had quite a good signal but with flutter. The 13345 transmitter was on 13365 the day before

Chinese language comments from male and female types. Signal was fair at
this time, but an hour earlier was nil on this freq eventhough EIBI had them

could hardly believe my ears the morning of May 19 when between 1415 and 1508 I sought in vain for any Firedrake. Not a trace of China`s lively jamming music to be

heard in any of the usual places. Here`s what I found:

14410 at 1415 woman talking, seems Chinese. I first figured with FD off, Sound of Hope was getting thru, but from later reports, the Chicom just switched jamming audio

from FD back to CNR-1 program, which they have used extensively before, due to the quake mourning period May 19-21. At 1435, 14410 was still weak with talk. By 1456,

JBA.

Nothing audible on another OOB SOH frequency 13365 or 13645 like the days before, but propagation from E Asia (and just about everywhere else beyond N America) was

very poor today, as least above 12 MHz. I was still getting VOA Korean on 11740 well at 1439 via Tinang, but IBB Philippines and NMI relays always have a lower-latitude

advantage over China here.

15285 at 1416, normally a big FD signal, just something else, weak. BBC Singapore the target.

12040 at 1419, Chinese with co-channel, no music. VOA Tinang the target.

11540 at 1508, SAH between two Chinese, not including Firedrake: RFA Tinian being the target.

9930 at 1418, 1440, Chinese with weak co-channel. Now I`m not sure which was on top: KWHR with SOH, or China jamming. Unfortunately, I did not think to carry out

parallel chex to tell which audio was CNR-1 heard on various frequencies.

9605 at 1424, Chinese, no FD music. BBC the target.

9525 at 1423, het with VOI 9526, so I knew China was propagating on this band.

9450 at 1416, a high-power SOH frequency from Taiwan, no FD music.

I posted the no-Firedrake news on the DXLD yg and Andy Sennitt suggested it could be due to mourning. Sei-ichi Hasegawa, NDXC soon explained that during the 3-day

quake mourning period, Firedrake has been replaced by CNR-1 as jamming source, out of respect for the dead. I say: How about some respect for the living, too, and their

CHINA [non]. CRI facilitates a very unfavorable comparison between its Albanian and Cuban relay sites, by adjacenting them on 9570 and 9580 respectively for English at

0100. May 19 at 0142 check, modulation was much stronger and clearer on 9570 than on 9580.

Are the Chicom really paying the Cubcom for such degraded relays, with similar problems on many other frequencies? Or do the Cubans donate their worst SW facilities

out of general fraternal Commie gratitude? It`s odd that there have never been any RHC relays via China sites, which surely they could get if they wanted; guess Cuba isn`t

Monday, May 19 was the start of 3 days of national mourning for the
victims of the Wenchuan quake. At 2:30 PM local time, everything came
to a complete standstill here in Shanghai, with 3 minutes of the
sounds of sirens and car horns, in honor of the victims of the quake.
All the news media have continuous stories about the quake. Most of
the television stations have identical coverage (one exception is
CCTV-9, the English language channel).

Radio reception consists mostly of numerous CNR-1 relays in the SW, AM
and FM bands. Have observed CNR-2/China Business Radio with 24 hour
relaying of CNR-1, as heard on the normal CNR-2/CBR frequencies: 91.4
FM, 6065, 6155, 7130, etc., on May 17, 18 and 19 during various times.
First noticed this when I checked for the regular "English Evening"
program from 13-14 UT and found the CNR-1 relay instead. The Sichuan
PBS services, broadcasting from the area of the quake, continues to be
on 6060, 7225 and the new 9740, heard with a relay of CNR-1 from about
1200-1232 UT. At other times they are mostly all parallel, but on May
19 noted 9740 was not parallel to anything, so assume they actually
had Sichuan PBS-1 programming at 1105. 6200 continues to relay CNR-1
for 24 hours a day. Of course I hear some stations with their own
programming: on 4830, CHBC at *1200 on May 19 and 4900 // 4040 with
the VOS at 1241 on May 19.

Would seem logical that is massive relaying of CNR-1 will continue
through at least the 21th, the last day of national mourning and will

The 3-day mourning period is over, but still no sign of Firedrake May 22, checking many of the usual spots; at 1256, found 14410 with weak talk instead, most likely CNR-1

Moldova
The Grigoriopol SW site opened with the first tests in late 1973.
This has been confirmed by "insiders". Before that there were no
highpowered or FS transmissions from the territory of Moldova
(Moldavian SSR) on SW. There are indications that there were some
lowpowered SW transmitters before that time in or near Chisinau,
possibly for jamming purposes and using HS programmes. The primary
sites for transmissions to NAm at that time were Lviv and Mikolayiv
(appearing as Vinnitsa, Simferopol, etc. in ITU schedules).

The high powered transmitters from 1973+ have always stayed at the
same location. There have been no reports or indications of any kind
of move, although the transmitters were modernised at a later stage.
So the division line is 1973: Home service relays heard up to 1973 and
it's Chisinau, foreign service relays from late 1973 up to this date
and it's Grigoriopol (Maiac/Mayak to be exact).

The R Moscow FS transmissions from Moldova that existed before 1973
were on MW 998 only. This frequency was used to link the North
American service to the Bulgarian relays.

Because of the systematic disinformation used by Moscow to hide away
their real SW sites, QSLs issued by R Moscow stating a certain site
have little or no value as a real confirmation of that site or the

I've just caught BBC World Service in Oman between 00:30 and 01:00
UTC with a surprising steady signal. According to WRTH an EMWG, the
program was in Dari language. I can say that up to now, this is my
longest shot (a little more than 11,000 Km!). Listen to that little
clip around 00:40 UTC

Romania
R Romania International announced as the last item in their English news (18
May at 0007 UT on 9775 kHz) that they would be reducing their shortwave
frequencies for the next couple of months whilst they upgrade/replace their
shortwave transmitters. The revised English schedule they read out had only
half the number of frequencies for each broadcast as in their original A08
schedule (see below).

CHANGES IN RRI'S FREQUENCIES
You'll soon receive RRI's broadcasts on the short-waves in better
conditions.

On May 18th 2008, at 21.00 hours GMT, the transmitters in Galbeni,
north-eastern Romania will stop functioning and will be replaced by Radiocom
with new 300 kW short-wave transmitters. That is why in the following months
you can listen to RRI's broadcasts on fewer frequencies. The programs will
be broadcast by our transmitters in Tiganesti, near Bucharest.

The programs broadcast by the transmitters in Saftica, near Bucharest,
the internet and satellite transmissions, as well as the broadcasts and
rebroadcasts of RRI's programs by WRN will not be affected by the change.

In summer, after the new transmitters of Galbeni start functioning,
most of our programs will be broadcast by those transmitters, to allow us
upgrade the rest of our old short-wave transmitters, which become more and
more obsolete, and replace them with 300 kW transmitters in Tiganesti and
100 kW transmitters in Saftica.

We hope the inconvenience created by the reduction of frequencies on
the short waves will be compensated in a couple of months by a significant

programmes on 15220 kHz.

At 17.00 UTC listeners in Western Europe can listen to RRI on 11735

Ah, almost a month from Solstice now and we are getting late-nite HF openings. May 20 at 0609 heard Chinese on 17880, fair with heavy fading, M&W interview, only

station on 16m band, // 15680 but the latter running about 1 second behind. These are Radio Free Asia, 17880 via Saipan at 310 degrees, and 15680 via Tinian at 296

degrees. No jamming audible, but Aoki says they are jammed as you would expect. I expect the higher-latitude jamming from China was not propagating as this seemed to

Samoa
Samoa Quality Broadcasters have completed purchase of 89.1 FM Apia,
the former SBC Radio 1 outlet. CEO is Ms Faiesea Matafeo, also the
current CEO of SBC and she will be joined by seven other existing SBC
staff. Redundancy payments are being made to others.

The station will continue the 60 year old tradition of quality
broadcasting established by forerunner 2AP in 1948, and serve Samoa
in both English and Samoan languages.

SQB have also purchased Televise Samoa from the SBC, and will be
operating from the same premises at Mulinu'u on the harbor front in
Apia.

The existing SBC1 and SBC2 AM transmitters [540 and 747] are not part
of the sale deal and will come under control of the Ministry of
Communications for use in emergencies and other times of national
interest.

International Radio Serbia is gone again from the Bijeljina transmitter in Bosnia-Herzegovina. On May 19 and 20, Wolfgang Büschel and other European monitors were no

longer hearing the European service on 6100, just the low-power Stubline unit on 7200v. So is 6185 to North America also off?

Yes, no IRS, checking here UT May 21 at 0003, just XEPPM on 6185 with Mexican music, 0023 Spanish talk. Also with huge splatter from Cuba 6180. Too, see UK for

discussion of suggested move to 6190, 6195.

and English stream came on right away. Since they don`t have enough sense to use a clear SW frequency when it`s working, I`m glad I did listen to crystal-clear webcast,

embedded autolaunching WM player, so why do they prompt a real player download?? Because I had been wondering about the Eurovision Song Contest, this year from

Belgrade. Some of the features were about that; it started today with semifinals, and the finale will be May 24. Nevertheless, IRS seems to be partial to the Serbian entry!

Not a good time to lose their main SW capacity again.

more apparent on speech than on music. Between 0100 and 0300 three 100 kW transmitters at two sites are all running at once, two at Wertachtal aimed 240 and 300

degrees, and another at Nauen, presumably the dominant one here, aimed 325 degrees. At 22-23 there is only one Wertachtal on 9925, at 23-01 there are two Wertachtals,

This morning I had Sporadic E reception at Calheta, Island of Santiago, Cape Verde. I observed between 09.00 and 09.30 UTC (local time - one hour). I heared IDs from

Burkina Faso and Mali. The MUF was up to 108 MHz in the beginning.
The Cape verde island are a really interesting DX location!

As we speak about TV & FM DX, let me to congratulate you for the nice
videos you have been uploaded to YouTube!

In fact, signals from MDR, CNR and MRC in Portugal mainland are
regularly logged on the coastal areas. Sea paths favour tropospheric
ducting enhancements, so signals sometimes can travel further. In
fact, scanning the FM or the analogue VHF/UHF TV on summer really does
pay along south Portugal beaches.

Over the latest years, while spending some days on Sesimbra (south of
Lisboa) , I could log many FM Moroccan txs, but also Madeira and
Canary radios. The main transmitter of RDP on Madeira (Pico do
Areeiro; Antena 1 95.5 MHz & Antena 3 - 94.1 MHz) is usually heard in
Sesimbra; by the way if you get it when relaying national programmes
you're notice the audio is delayed compared with mainland transmitters
due to satellite feeding .

Some Canary txs are also good targets there... One of the most logged
is "La Montaneta", from Lanzarote, which broadcasts Spanish public
radio stations of RNE; i mean RNE Radio 1, R. Clasica and Radio 3.

Nevertheless, local FM and TV stations from this Spanish archipelago
may also put signals on Portuguese beaches.

One may have fun scanning FM distant transmitters while get sun bronze
on the beach towel... (don't get me wrong; just kidding, of course).

Seriously speaking, as TV is concerned, I've logged some channels,
including RTM, 2M, RTP Madeira; btw please feel free to watch my
videos on http://www.youtube.com/mundodaradio . ;)

I mush confess I'm not much accustomed to record DX loggings, but I
will try to DX on VHF-I this Spring/Summer, taking chance from the
ionosphere... Hope Sporadic E openings reach soon Portugal.

On FM, as SpE is concerned, over recent years, i've been catch some
countries, like France, Italy, Tunisia, UK, Poland, etc.

Well, I ought promise I'll start forwarding my SpE logs to skywaves

Have a very weak E2 signal peaking North East at the moment,
sloooowlly fading in and out.

Frequency is 48.25022 approximately so making a low frequency
beat with TVE1 Madrid which is around 48.2501.(Fortunately weak
with me in S Portugal but roughly in the same direction)

Been in since 0700 UTC & I could see a basketball game a few
minutes ago,no logo was immediately visible.

No audio present & the signal does not have teletext visible at
the top,just normal VITS (Vertical Interval Test Signal).

Something was trying to appear on E3 but very weak.

No sign of Rai or anything else.

Rai on E2 briefly dominated Syria at 16.40BST,I'm 100% sure
it was Rai.Frequency was 48.25055 MHz.
Strange as earlier there seemed to be a signal on 48.25052MHz
we need to confirm the Rai frequency 100%.

Rai just came up for a few minutes with horrible low frequency
bar co channel interference & then just went away very quickly.
Syria is still there though weak now on E2.

Years ago there was a Rai relay on E2 in Campione d'Italia
in the north which I do remember picking up
Perhaps with the band clearer we now see it whereas
before it would have been impossible??!!

This afternoon and evening the tropo has much enhancment here in Calheta. The band is full of stations from Senegal. A lot of QRGs I receive for the first time here. Also

Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone came in.
From Sierra Leone I got Radio One on 103.7 and BBC WS on 94.3. From Guinea-Bissau I got 105.50 with news program. From Guinea RFI on 93.9.
Mauritania has started with RDS. On 93.3 I got the PS-Codes "RADIO MAURITANIE NOUAKCHOTT" and PI-Code 5000.

Budapest is still on air as far as I can see although I'm relying on
MS/iono to see the carrier which was cured of its jumping frequency last
year, I have two around 739.52 and 739.55 which I think are Budapest and
Prague. Lviv is 1700km from here and just detectable via MS although
with its current poor state it's hard to tell when a ping appears. It's
a shame that R1 is blocked for all but the strongest Es signals over
here as it would yield the most visible pings via MS, I'd even see some
of the ionoscatter signals from the -8 signals.

Simferopol is 2600km and too far for either mode but I'll run a spectrum
display on it overnight and see what I can see. I've been running a slow
trace on E2 today in case of any prop to the south, yesterday afternoon
one of the UNID West African vids was in for about 30 mins and peaked
S5, at the same time it was S9 in Germany and not heard in Portugal!

Conditions flat for a few days here too. I had one logging late last
night at 19:15 UTC (22:15 local) E3 JTV Jordan, fairly weak with much
QSB.

Usually when I have been in England for the start of the SPE, which
isn't often, there has been a good opening around 16-19th May, and a
better one around 24-27th May. I have never been in Qatar before for
SPE, but I had very strong SPE on 17th (probably my strongest BandI TV
SPE ever!), so maybe I will have another opening to look forward too
this weekend!

The last 2h I get on R1 8M Lviv with its crystal-less (so it seems) tx. It
jumps around in a 3kHz wide range. Its spectrum is a real eye catcher on
Winradios display
Please tell the technicians to put the crystal back in !

It actually moves around the clean & stable 1TV Brjansk at the same offset.
The result is a visible moiree that changes all the time accordingly.

Включил приемник в 15:50 - на 28512 кГц громко работает DU9VA (?) Виктор
из Далейдена, Германия. Сработал с несколькими операторами. В 16:07 с
ним связался киевский любитель UT5UVU (?). Вопросы я поставил, т.к. не
уверен, что правильно изобразил некоторые буквы - надо будет вспомнить
азбуку :-). Наблюдение проводил недолго.

Кстати, после этого наблюдения обнаружил, что не подключил антенну - я
ее утром отключил на случай грозы.

Между прочим, между Киевом и Германией уже несколько дней гуляет циклон,
а значит и грозы.

Только что, в 1758UTC наткнулся на мощный сигнал Voice of America на
5995кГц. Было окончание программы с участием какого-то профессора,
затем "...listen VoA...", еще что-то. Больше никаких ID не было. Ровно
в 1800UTC сигнал VoA резко сменился на идентификацию BBC и пошли
новости.

Нигде в расписаниях не видел этой частоты (может упустил?). Или америкосы
начали здесь вещать, или просто прогревали передатчик в Омане???

A ham in Weatherford TX, K5BG, reported a broadcast spur on 1809 kHz, seemingly from Lubbock area, any help on DFing or IDing it? I checked May 19 at 0635 and was

I found new offsets for UCY-380. Mark, I think its USB is what I recently
suspected to be the LSB of a miskeying VCY-382.

The propagation here was poor over night. It's been a while since I
heard a Canadian and now I'm not hearing the Northern States.

I noticed the LSB of CV-402 moved up 70 HZ; I couldn't find the USB.

Now back home after a week on the coast in the North West Highlands
of Scotland at our favourite cottage - my first listening from there for
five years.

I concentrated almost entirely on hearing NDBs not previously logged from
there, increasing the count from 303 to 409. Most of these were in
Scandinavia. A long fence runs very conveniently from just by the cottage
approx. East/West but most signals were stronger using a 170 metre wire laid
along another (grounded) fence running North East / South West.

I also listened briefly for Iceland beacons and could hear ten of them
around midday (OZN 372 was a huge midday signal from Greenland).
Only tried briefly for Canadian beacons on one night before dawn - the usual
stronger ones were there.

Здесь начинает работу еще одна новая радиостанция -- "Добрые
песни". Тестирование началось 19 мая, на частоте 66,86 МГц.
Формат станции рассчитан на взрослую и умную аудиторию, на
позитивные эмоции, слушателей ждет добрая, интеллектуальная
лирика. Добрые песни, которые всегда рядом, настроение
доброты, которого сейчас так не хватает.
В первую очередь, акцент сделан на музыкальное наполнение
эфира, ключевыми артистами станции являются: Григорий Лепс,
Михаил Шуфутинский, Сергей Трофимов, Юрий Визбор, Олег Митяев,
Любовь Успенская, Михаил Круг, Гарик Сукачев, Стас Михайлов,
Николай Носков, Александр Маршал, Александр Розенбаум, группа
<<Лесоповал>>. Также в эфире будет звучать зарубежная музыка -
радиослушателей ожидает все, что называется <<золотым фондом>>:
Луи Армстронг, Леорнард Коен, Крис Ри...
Отдельное внимание станция уделяет творчеству Владимира
Высоцкого, песни которого будут звучать в эфире каждый час.
Звучание какой-либо "криминальной лирики" полностью
исключается. Поэтому слушатели целиком и полностью могут быть
уверены, что песен "про тюрьму и зеков" они не услышат.
Помимо вещания на УКВ в Москве, в дальнейшем планируется
запуск вещания в Подмосковье, крупных регионах (в диапазоне

This weekend we celebrate what is for all of us here at Vinohradska 12 a
rather important birthday. May 18 was the day back in 1923 when
Czechoslovakia began its first regular radio broadcasts. To mark the event
we shall be bringing you a special programme on Sunday, looking back to
those pioneering days. Here is a quick foretaste of what we have in store.
It all started exactly 85 years ago at 8.30 pm on May 18 1923, and the
opening announcement went like this: "This is the broadcasting station
Radiojournal in Kbely near Prague. We are broadcasting on the frequency 1150
metres." The announcer was Mila Kocova - who in those pioneering days also
doubled as the radio company Radiojournal's secretary! At the time it was a
private company - the state didn't acquire a majority stake until a couple
of years later - and at the beginning radio was still very much a toy for
the rich.

This was to change very fast indeed and by 1938 there were well over a
million radio licence holders in Czechoslovakia. As far as the content is
concerned, in the pioneering days they would only broadcast in the evening -
with music, sports news and weather forecasts from the Meteorological
Office. There were no news bulletins and the nearest they came to news was a
quick glance in the papers, which Mila Kocova would buy on the way to work.

Radiojournal did not move to our current headquarters until the mid 1930s.
In fact the first studio was a canvas tent, set up next to the transmitter
in Kbely on the eastern edge of Prague. In Sunday's programme we shall be
hearing an archive recording of Radiojournal's very first sound engineer
recalling how they used to have to chase stray dogs away - and when the wind
got up they would retreat into the wooden shack by the transmitter.

We shall also have an early recording of President Tomas Masaryk, reminding
a group of 1920s schoolchildren to wash and exercise regularly, and the head
of Radiojournal's music department in the mid 20s warning listeners of the
dangers to the nervous system presented by casual listening to the radio.
And a highlight will be a rare recording of the great German writer Thomas
Mann, in exile in Czechoslovakia 1936, calling for radio to be used as a
tool to enlighten the masses. His message has a particular poignancy given
that this was a time when Goebbels was using radio propaganda to do just the
opposite.

1. Получил QSL от Голоса Греции, рапорт отправлял по e-mailу, ответ пришёл через 36 дней.
2. Получил QSL от Голоса Кореи, рапорт отправлял обычной почтой, ответ пришёл через 77 дней. На QSL не написано имя автора рапорта. Также в конверте

находился журнал "Корея", вымпел, календарь, личное письмо, листовки о марках.

Пришёл ответ от GrootNieuwsRadio, примерно через 150 дней после отправки рапорта на их E-mail. В конверте было программное расписание на Голландском:),

листовка с фото ведущего De Heer'а, который мне отвечал на рапорт в конце прошлого года. Письмо с благодарностью за рапорт и извинением за долгий ответ.

Короче, такая же история, как и с ливийским "Голосом Африки", нормального QSL-подтверждения у них нет.
Неужели сложно в письме написать время, дату, частоту, имя автора рапорта:(... вот и было бы QSL-письмо а может они и не знают про QSL...

Интересно, что они до сих пор рассылают эту "новую" серию - ЩСЛ 2 - "Пляж в
Левкасе" я получил ещё в 1998 году. А не совсем понятная фраза объясняется
просто - некоторые станции меняют (или меняли) расписание не 2, а 4 раза в
год. Одна карточка на квартал!( и один набор -- на все времена, похоже...)
