production music well known to me on 15595. Yes, of course Deutsche
Welle, with to-be-abolished Turkish via Wertachtal. They continued with
a competition, then over to a Robbie Williams song they finally faded
out, IS played once and Wertachtal carrier almost seamlessly replaced by
Moosbrunn, signing on this frequency for AWR. Noted before 1500 also
Kigali with a strong signal on 15275, carrying German with SBG live

audio, impossible to make out anything beyond the circumstance that this
was once a human voice. Must have been Abis, and so 9990 is not the

Music on 9400, Sept 22 at 0012, which I took to be Hebrew and thus
Israel Radio, but no ID; signal rivalled Greece on 9420, i.e. quite
good. It was not until checking schedules later that I found that KI
is supposed to switch from 9400 to 9345 at 2300 for the Hebrew service
to NAm. Unaware of this, I did not look for it on 9345, but do not

15385, as it totally to be expected in all but the midsummer months.
So we have more than another month of virtual inaudibility and waste
of watts until the B-06 expected shift to 6055.

Also heard Spanish on 6020 over/under China via Albania in English, at
0023 Sept 22, with a fast SAH between them. Spain is scheduled to SAm
on 6020 direct, but inaudible on listed // 9535 and 9620, so MUF from

Fair-poor, with no het heard, which is due to the change in their frequency.
Believe this is the same station that started out at 7270.15 and has drifted
down over the past month and usually causes a het. Very weak station also on
7270.0, under Nei Menggu, possibly Wai FM (Malaysia), which John clearly
IDed at 1258 UT, on Sept 18. My observations are that Nei Menggu was the
drifter. Wai FM always was steady on 7270.00 before the new Nei Menggu
schedule blocked them. Many thanks to John Wilkins for his on-going help

Heard between 950 UTC and 1005 UTC with a good S7 signal with some
fading on 6139.50. Many mentions of Radio Lider and Bogota and what

Just as I was falling asleep at 0600 Sept 23, tuned to 6140 and
immediately heard R. Lider ID, VG signal, no het, and would not have known it
was off frequency but others measure it on 6139.8. Typically has spurts of
activity lasting only a few days, then gone for weeks or months. Prove me wrong

RHC has added a 13 MHz channel for its morning broadcast, VG on 13750,
Sept 23 at 1341 with talk about the Juegos Centroamericanos, then ``Agenda 21``
segment, ecological report about rehabilitating DDT to fight malaria, per OMS
(WHO) report. Also still heard on // 6000, 9550, 11760, 11805, 12000, 15230. At
1359 I compared it to 15230 and found they were not precisely synchronized, a
reverb apart, so different sites or program feed routings. At 1353 the OC for
CRI relay on 13740 was already on 10 kHz away with its perpetual squeal but
13750 was strong enough to withstand it. 13750 probably runs from 1100 to 1500
with Despertar con Cuba. Have not yet caught a frequency announcement to
confirm whether they know about it in the studio or it is permanent rather than

CRI in Arabic via Bamako on 17735 was a powerhouse after 1625.
The only equal or stronger signals on 16 metres were the three
frequencies IBB's Morocco station did run at the same time, i.e. 17745
with VOA Kurdish, 17840 with Radio Ashna = VOA Pashto and 17895 with VOA
Special English. By far the strongest signal I ever heard from Mali,
making me wonder if the Chinese probably upgraded the site with their
new PSM rip-offs? However, the somewhat softer modulation indicates that

Landing at 1538 on 11635 brought me a sudden
flash-back to ten years ago, since there was Voice of Russia (presumably
in Persian) with lots of reverb and the old-fashioned gate, sounding
just like the old Radio Moscow. It turned out to be a trailer,
apparently still recorded in the old studios. The HFCC file shows as
site for this transmission "Kishinyov" = Grigoriopol. However, the
modulation was not Grigoriopol-like, and the gate still in place points
at a site around Moscow, still getting audio through the old circuits.
And before 1600 VOR English run some stuff from the old studios as well,
noted on strong 7370 (this one may indeed be Grigoriopol as listed) and
even stronger 11980 (Tbilisskaya; what a pity that they replaced this
powerhouse signal for German by a poorer Samara outlet).

Came at 1530 accross "this is the Voice of America signing
off" on 13750, with some other station underneath until the VOA
transmitter finally cut its carrier after some YDD. Apparently it
carried VOA Hausa, moved to here from 13745 to avoid Gospel for Asia via
Wertachtal. Trouble is that GFA via WER continues at 1530 on 13750, so
an immediate carrier down should be practiced for this VOA transmission.

and Holy Quran on 17895 with bassy audio, together with French on 21600
with an announcement for "Radio Riyadh". And after 1500 Call of Islam
was on 15435, accompanied by a buzzy hum (or was it a hummy buzz?).

Since I was tuning around the 5.9 MHz range, Sept 22 at
0034, I noticed that WBOH was in Spanish preaching and not // WTJC
9370 with usual gospel music. 5920 outro as ``Palabra de Dios
Hablada`` out of Orlando in 20+ languages; music. 0044 recheck another
preacher in Spanish but this one with gringo accent (Glenn Hauser, OK, usa - dxldyg 22/09/06)

WWCR-1, 7465, still having problems with splatter Sept 21
from first check at 2350; however modulation on center channel was OK
altho very high. It might help just to back down the modulation level.
There was a 20-second break from 2358:40 to 2359:00 as the switch was
made to WWCR-4 transmitter on same frequency. Splatter was worse
during the steel drum IS, ranging at least from 7425 to 7510. Then I
found that the splatter had minor peaks around 7430 and 7500. But this
time, the situation did not improve after the transmitter change; if
anything, it worsened. At 0018 I could detect the WWCR spurious as
high as 7535. Before 2400, it impeded reception of Polisario 40 kHz

with carrier, 0022 tones. Retuned at 0031 with morning news show in
progress with the same fly-to-Hiroshima-on-boutique-Bangkok-Airways
commercial, 0032 business news preceded by 7:31 am timecheck and ID as
``Radio Thailand, FM 88`` (would that be the Sor Wor Thor outlet on
88.0 in WRTH, ``Radio No Problem``? Ha!). 0037 referred to ``Tuesday`s
power shift`` rather than coup, and confidence that the economy and
tourism could weather this temporary disruption; 0041 ad for Her

Maybe it`s OK on the east coast, but I am afraid 5820 for
RUI is just not working here in CNAm. Sept 22 during English ID at
0020, there was too much splash from super-strong WEWN 5810. At 0033
recheck RUI appeared to be off the air, no carrier detectable; 0043 it
was back but even worse relative to WEWN. Meanwhile, during this hour
I found there were no signals between 5820 and 5890, and for that
matter not between 5745 and 5810 either. From our point of view RUI
could greatly improve its audibility by moving anywhere in this range
further from WEWN, but there are no doubt many European/Asian
collisions that have to be avoided. And the situation may be different
during the 0300 English hour, not to mention the entire 2300-0400 span

has a feature on upcoming R. St. Helena special. Tuned in too late Sat Sept 23
on 6110 via Canada at 0536 as Toshi Ohtake segment was ending, but then they
played a song, ``Isle of St. Helena`` by an Irish singer. She pronounced it
correctly, huh-LEE-nuh, but both M&W hosts, one before and one after,
pronounced HELL-uh-nuh, as if they didn`t even listen to the song. Is this show
made up of pieces edited together by someone else rather than flowing along in
real time as it seems? Numerous repeats into UT Monday if one intunes earlier
in the hour. If R. St. Helena accomplishes nothing else, we can hope that

As for Aventure FM, I'm in contact with someone who did his military service in Paris between 1988 and 1989. I have an aircheck and a promotion tape somewhere. When I'll receive them, I'll send them to some of you. If you are interested, I have the death of Aventure FM on October 22, 1989 and the birth of MaXXimum ex. Aventure FM (RTL2 now). In any event, for me, Aventure FM was the BEST french radio station ever.

Como ustedes pueden mirar, nada muy especial lleg? la noche pasada en onda
media por Montr?al. Hay alguna propagaci?n trans-Atlantica, pero muy d?bil
para mi y no es bastante para conseguir detalles de est?s captaciones. La
mayor?a de las sinton?as fuertes desde Venezuela y Cuba llegueron, pero nada
muy especial.

Como estamos en el a?o con la m?s peque?a actividad solar, pienso que
podr?amos tener estupenda propagaci?n trans-Atlantica. Me gustar?a mucho
grabar algunos minutos con buena calidad de Madrid-585 para sorprendirles y
recibir una hermosa tarjeta QSL. ? Voy a mirar eso !

Las noches proximas, voy a pasarles en un pueblo cercano de Montr?al,
situado a 55 o 60 kilometros de mi lugar de residencia. No s? ahora si voy a
traer mi Sanyo MCD-S830 con migo o no. Lo que es claro es que debo esperar 1
o 2 semanas antes que la propagaci?n trans-Atlantica y / o Latinoamericana

on a fantastic cruise through the caribbean, I was able to capture some domestic medium wave and fm stations from the following countries/territories. my stations are logged either from the upper deck of the Ship M.S. Elation in the ocean or in the country/territory itself. I wish that I could have had more time to DX, but there were more things to do like tour and sight-see all day ion the islands and party all night on the ship.

The radio used was a Sony boom box with CD, digital am-fm radio, and cassette. here in usa, the FM had numerous overload of local brodcasters ending up all over the band, however, this good sensitivity was not overloaded in the Caribbean or Atlantic or on the islands where signals were not as congested or strong. I was glad for the sensitivity then. The AM was also very sensitive after a good re-calibration of I.F. and R.F. pots. the AM was very satisfactory in sensitivity, selectivity and did not overload
with intermods. for a $50.00 boom box with digital radio, cassette, and cd, from wal-mart, I was very satisfied. However, it was NO kenwood R-5000.

I have hours of recordings with excellent music, id's, and domestic programming. now, to convert them all over to professional CDR.

Had some 15 minutes for scanning the FM Band this morning on Thurday 21 September 2006, before I had to leave for work. I should have gone out of bed earlier of course.
What I found fits the definition of super extreme DX, because the transmitters listed below have not been recieved by me for at least five years, more likely for ten years. The oddity is though, that until the early nineties I was receiving these stations four times per year on average. Just to illustrate how tropospheric conditions have deteriorated at my location. From the bright side, I was much more exited with this reception than I used to be back then.

For the last 2 years My Uncle has had a caravan at Benllech on Angelsey and he's having to get rid of it due to health problems, so I went back there for one last long weekend.
Reception at the at the Caravan Park on the South East side of the Island was disappointing to say the least, basically just stuff from back home, a couple of the higher powered Dublin Stations and Overload from Llandonna which was visible from the Window (athough luckily it was a good CB'ing spot).
During previous trips I tried dxing from Holyhead, Amlwch & South Stack with disappointing results,but this time i struck gold
feel free to reprint this in the BDXC Magazine and Skywaves if it's of any use/interest
i'd say this site is probably almost equal to Aberdaron. It's advantages are: Absence of sutton coldfield signals and near absence of Holme moss
disadvantages: although i only spent an afternoon there compared with days at Aberdaron, there was no sign of central Southern england Chillerton Down, Rowridge etc, and i didn't ID R Bristol, Gloucester ot Severn Sound.

I wish i'd taken lists with me, i'm now thinking of Irish UHF TV stuff i
didn't try for and kicking myself, but to be honest the whole thing was a
surprise, i nearly didn't take my scanner on holiday!
i was expecting to be stuck at the caravan in the bad reception spot, then
on the saturday morning Dad said: we're going to The South west side!, you
can try for Devon & Cornwall!
best dxpedition i've had for a while, from memory i think my last aberdaron
trip in 04 was distinctly underwhelming, it rained all the time and new tx
opened on 105.7 nearby!
Middleton top was good last sunday too, but not as good as this

Интересно, что эта частота для Дальнегорска "фигурирует" уже как несколько лет.
Неужто всё это время была в плане? У себя (в Арсеньеве) пока не принимал.

Ну прежде всего, Александр: пока ещё рано говорить "вещал", поскольку, в конце концов,
окончательное решение не принято, - при всём том, насколько бы высокой вероятность
прекращения вещания VOA бы ни была.

А те частоты, на которых "Голос" вещал в прошлом на Д.Восток в 0700-0900, после
прекращения его трансляций из Филиппин и Урдона осенью 1999-го действительно
сразу же перешли под передачи Свободы. В настоящее время - 3 частоты.
