Places - What's the population?

 1. Расскажите о городе/деревне (city/town/village) вашего друга:

'Serge is from Venise, near Avallon, in France.
It's a small village, and very pretty.
It's quiet, and it's not very exciting.'

'It's a city on the east coast of the United States.
It is polluted and noisy, but it is exciting.'
'Is it Boston?' - 'No, it isn't'
'Is it New York?' - 'Yes, it is.'

2. Повторим числительные:

        101     a hundred and one
         132     a hundred and thirty-two
        300     three hundred
        354     three hundred and fifty-four
      1,000     a thousand (one thousand)
      1,400     one thousand four hundred
1,000,000     a million (one million)
1,000,002     a million and two

3. Спросите и дайте ответ:

'What's the population of Tokyo?'
'I don't know.' - 'About 9 million, I think.' -  'About 2 million.'
'What's the population of Toronto?' - 'Six hundred and thirty-three thousand, three hundred and eighteen.'
'What's the population in Moscow?'  -  'I think it's ..... '
'What's ..... population in Novosibirsk?' - 'Oh, it's very big city, it's something about (что-нибудь около) ..... .'
'..... the population in your native (родной) town?'  -  'Not very much, it's ..... , I think. '
'What's ..... in the village where your country house (your 'dasha') is? - 'Really, I don't ..... ' ('I really don't ..... .')

4. Спросите и ответьте (по поводу численности населения), построив вопрос и ответ, в какой угодно форме (используйте образцы упр.8):

Cairo               8,500,000
London            7,028,200
Mexico            8,591,750
Rio de Janeiro   5,157,000
Singapore        2,147,400
Lagos             1,060,848
