Present Continious
The dog is playing with its tail.
- Why are you crying?
- I've broken my favourite vase.
Present Continuous:
Местоимеyия
глагол to be
I
am
he/she/it
is
we/they/you
are
- Who is that man at the bar? -
- Oh, this is James Feather, a famous playwriter. They say, he is writing a new play now.
The delegation is carrying on negotiations with our firm. -
Today they are having an excursion to our plant. -
Как правило глагол to have не используется в Сontinuous Tense в значении "to possess" (обладать). В этом примере are having an excursion = are going sight-seeing.
Continious
want like belong know suppose need
love see realise mean forget prefer
hate hear believe understand remember seem
Например: today, this season ...
- We are leaving tomorrow at six.
- They are playing with this team in a week.
- The population of the world is rising very fast.
- Is your French getting better?
Past Cotinious
Yesterday at that time I was playing football. -
Past continuous
- She was sitting comfortably on the floor. -
Past continuous
- She was cooking the supper. (past continuous)-
- She cooked the supper. (past simple)-
глагол to be
I/he/she/it
was
We/they/you
were
- This time yesterday the Time Traveller was talking to a group of his friends about the problem of travelling in time.
- The Time Ttraveller was moving further and further into the future.
- Just at daybreak I woke up because Bill was screaming.
the whole day, all day long.
- The car was waiting for them at the stage door the whole day.
always, ever, constantly.
- His photograph was always appearing in the illustrated papers.
Furure Continious
Future Continuous(will be doing),
- At 5 o'clock tomorrow she will be having her English lesson.
Future Continuous Tense (will be doing)
- Here is John's schedule for the next Saturday:
-in the morning he will be working in the garden.
-in the afternoon, when it is very hot he will be repairing his car in the garage.
- And what is he doing in the evening? He is taking Mary to the cinema.
Climate and weather
The weather seems to be everybody's favorite topic of conversation in Britain. This is not because people are [ особенно] interested in it, but people have to talk about something and the weather [служить] as a convenient subject.
The main thing to say about the weather in Britain is that it is [непредсказуемый] . There are weather forecasts on the radio and TV and in newspapers, but on the whole nobody belives them. In the last Britain was famous of fogs. The typical picture of London was a foggy November morning. Nowdays fog does not seem so common. As a rule the climate of the country depends on its geographical position. Being [окруженный] by the sea Britain enjoys a temperate wet climate. It is much [мягче] than of a continental countries: it is warmer in winter and cooler in summer. It is never too cold or too hot there. It often rains and [время от времени] it snows. The two [наихудший] months in England are January and February.
In the south of England snow falls only a few times during the winter and never lies long. But it often rains and there are few sunny days in winter. The [средний] winter temperature is between 3-7 degrees centigrade. In the north the winter is colder. It is as frosty in Scotland as it is in St. Petersburg. "Cold weather is more pleasant than wet weather", English people say. Spring is [несомненно] the best season of the year in England.
And what is the climate like in Russian Federation? It is difficult to answer this question. The country is very lrge, that is why there are all sorts of weather in different regions. It is very cold in the the north most of the year; and it is [довольно] warm in the south even in winter. The swimming season on the Black Sea coast lasts from May to November.
In the European part of the country summers are quite hot, the sky is cloudless, the sun shines most of the time,[хотя] it rains once in a while. The first half of autumn is rather warm, too. From October to March the weather is cold. There are some very [жестокий] frosts in winter, and there is a lot of snow.
In Siberia winter is quite cold, and severe frosts are common. Autumn comes earlier and summer later than in the European part of the country. The climate of Siberia is continental, so there are dry, hot summers and very cold winters.
The winters in Moscow are colder than in London. There is always a lot of snow in January and Februry. There is also a lot of wind in winter. The average temperture is 10-11 degrees centigrade below zero in January. Winter is a good time for such sports as skiing, hockey and skating.

A man was seated in the movie house with his arm around a large dog sitting
in the seat next to him. The dog was clearly enjoying the picture, even
yelping at the funny parts. A man sitting behind them leaned over and said,
"Excuse me, sir, but I can't get over your dog's behavior!"
The man with the dog turned around and said, "Frankly, it surprises me too.
He hated the book."
Dialogue (Do a favour)
Sandy: Hi, Fernando!
Fernando: Sandy! Hello! What brings you here?
Sandy: Mark and I just got back from having lunch.
Fernando: Well, I'm glad you succeeded in dragging away
from the office for once. Listen, I want to thank you again
for the lovely evening we all had together.
Sandy: It was our pleasure!
Fernando: Sandy, can you do me a favor? Could you give
me some suggestions about shopping? I'd like to buy
something special for Marta.
Sandy: A shopping question? That's hardly a favor, Fernando.
What kind of gift do you have in mind?
Fernando: I was thinking about getting her some jewelry, but
actually, I think she'd prefer something for the restaurant.
Sandy: How about a lovely piece of art?
Fernando: Yes! That's it!
Sandy: You should look around in the Design District.
Fernando: That's downtown, isn't it?
Sandy: Yes, in the old part of the city. They've gentrified the
area, and crafts shops.
Fernando: This is a great idea, Sandy. I'll need something for
the kids, too - CDs, maybe a CD player.
Sandy: For those things, I'd try Sight and Sound, over on
Lee Highway? They have the best selection.
Fernando: Oh, yes, I know the place. I'll look at laptops
there, too. I'm thinking of getting a new one.
Sandy: You could also go to a discount place. There are
a lot of them over at the Big Outlet Mall.
Fernando: Is it far?
Sandy: Not too far. The prices are worth it.
Fernando: I do like the idea of saving some money.
Sandy: Or, you could just forget about driving altogether,
and do some catalogue shopping, or even Internet shopping
from home.
Fernando: You've offered me a lot of choices. As usual, you've
been most helpful, Sandy. I look forward to repaying your kindness
when you and Mark come down to visit us one day.
Sandy: And we look forward to taking you up on that!
