Dear students!    My name is Juliet Horsfall and I am from London. I graduated from University College London last year with a degree in History, which was then followed by a CELTA course in Oxford. I have been teaching English in Moscow since qualifying as an English language teacher.   The following meeting is dedicated (посвящен) to the challenges (проблемные ситуации) we may face while travelling. So, first we start with the airport, talk about what you need to do, what happens, and then discuss the potential problems you could encounter(столкнуться). We shall use the same structure for an hotel, and then a restaurant. Towards the end of the lesson we will share our own experiences of travelling and the issues we dealt with personally. Finally,  there will be the opportunity to voice your own concerns about travelling and as a group we will suggest solutions to these. See you at the next meeting!   Travelling by air   Here are some of the phrases you will need when travelling by air and some of the signs you will see at the airport. Checking in I've come to collect my tickets I booked on the internet do you have your booking reference? your passport and ticket, please here's my booking reference where are you flying to? did you pack your bags yourself? has anyone had access to your bags in the meantime? do you have any liquids (жидкость) or sharp objects in your hand baggage? how many bags are you checking in? could I see your hand baggage, please? do I need to check this in or can I take it with me? you'll need to check that in there's an excess (перевес) baggage charge of ... £30 would you like a window or an aisle seat (место возле прохода)? enjoy your flight! where can I get a trolley? Security are you carrying any liquids? could you take off your ..., please? coat shoes belt could you put any metallic objects into the tray (поднос), please? please empty your pockets please take your laptop out of its case I'm afraid you can't take that through In the departure lounge what's the flight number? which gate do we need? last call for passenger Smith travelling to Miami, please proceed (направляться) immediately to Gate number 32 the flight's been delayed the flight's been cancelled we'd like to apologise for the delay could I see your passport and boarding card (посадочный талон), please?
