Выпуск #140 "ПРОДВИНУТЫЙ ENGLISH" 18/09/08 Электронные записки для изучающих английский язык Hi there. Finally, the winter is past, and the spring thaw has helped me write again! If you remember, in the previous #139 issue (the Easter Bunny one) I asked whether it was of any interest to have my Advanced English Newsletter up and running. Some 50 of 33,000+ then answered in the affirmative (maybe more, but they were too lazy to let me know), and I was desperate to write something up. But then the winter came and I got frozen. Now I am back to trying to do something useful. I remember a couple of emails doubted the correctness of my ``It's been ages since we've written". I asked around, and I will touch on that in the next issue. Also, I would like to discuss some aspects of good writing (e.g., something along these lines) as part of the newsletter. If interested, please let me know.  The present issue deals with i) some common cases of using get, ii) enlarging vocabulary by studying words that are subsets of a larger set named ``A piece of..." and iii) some remarks on word formation via prefixes. As a bonus, a couple of useful links are provided. The full issue in a pdf format is available here. (I am not allowed to attached files other than images to this email.)
