Reporter (Russian) *UPSOUND*: «Aren't you afraid of the recent incident?» Kononenko (Russian): «Not any more. It's in the past. We'll hope for the best.» Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko's teenage daughter Alisa said that she «will hope for the best» during an interview in Baikonur on Saturday, ahead of her father’s December 3 mission to the International Space Station. She went on to say that the she is not afraid after the recent Soyuz MS-10 incident since «it is in the past.» Kononenko also mentioned that she met with her father and he explained to her about what he was going to do aboard the International Space Station. Oleg promised his daughter that «everything will be fine,» though «he is worried» about his family. Experts are checking that all the systems are functioning normally ahead of the launch from the first platform, also known as ‘Gagarin’s Start’, which is scheduled for December 3. The Expedition 58/59 crew consists of Kononenko, NASA astronaut Ann McClain and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut David Saint-Jacques. Missions to the ISS are set to resume after a booster on the Soyuz MS-10 failed on October 11. It is believed a faulty sensor was behind the issue.

Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko joined astronauts Anne McClain from NASA and David Saint-Jacques from the Canadian Space Agency to hold a pre-flight press conference ahead of the International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 58/59, in Baikonour on Sunday. Anne McClain assured that the crew members have trust in the Soyuz rocket, which will carry them to the ISS. «We feel very confident in Roscosmos and the investigation that was conducted, and the independent investigation by NASA», she said, adding that the crew is ready to go. Answering a question on the possibility of procreation in space, Oleg Kononenko explained that so far all experiments with birds and mice still had resulted in difficulties. NASA's McClain added that «if it is going to become a two-planet species, then someday we'll have to take a look at that.» The trio will take off on the Soyuz MS-11 spacecraft from Kazakhstan's Baikonour Cosmodrome on December 3. This is the first manned mission since the Soyuz failure on October 11.
