Доброе утро, мои уважаемые подписчики. Вас приветствует ведущий рассылки Национальная и государственная безопасность Игорь Игоревич Хохлов.

Igor Khokhlov, a doctor of political science and an expert from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, said that US invasion in Iraq and Afghanistan aims at political and economical control over China.

“We have seen that the previous Bush administration invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, two countries which I consider to be the richest ones in the mineral resources, although I don’t think the United Sates needs the resources from Afghanistan, as well as they don’t need oil from Iraq,” Khokhlov stated. “I guess China is becoming a major global player and China is looking all over the world for resources for its economy, and China is buying resources in Africa, in Latin America, in Russian Far East and in Indo-China, and of course China is interested in the untapped mineral resources of Afghanistan. And I think the idea of [the] Obama administration is to control those two richest countries in the world – so they will be able to control [the] Chinese economy.

Americans have failed to create some kind of stability in Afghanistan and the tremendous corruption now devouring Afghan society fuels drug trafficking, shared Igor Khokhlov, fellow with the Institute of World Economy and International Relations in Moscow.

“The brother of President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, Akhmed Karzai, is reported to be the top drug lord in the country – that is what the Americans themselves say,” Khokhlov acknowledged.

The increase of opium production in Afghanistan hits Russia hard, Khokhlov said, adding that setting up a base in Kyrgyzstan would help to effectively control the drug flow from Afghanistan because international co-operation is always effective when fighting drug abuse, but the “basic reason lies in Afghanistan itself.”

Mi-17 helicopters are versatile transport aircrafts made especially for use in mountainous area. Also, many Afghan pilots were trained to fly them during the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Igor Khokhlov, from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, explained that it is one of the reasons why the Mi-17 helicopters were chosen over American ones.

“Those helicopters have proven very effective in mountainous terrain and armies all over the world are using those helicopters,” Khokhlov said. “Most of the world’s armies, especially those who have to fight on mountainous terrain, terrain [that is] very similar to the Afghan one, use those helicopters.”
